How many battles did the Colonials win before Cornwallis' Surrender at Yorktown?

Interesting retort.
During the latter part of the 18th century, Britain was the ranking
military power in the world, largely because of her Navy.
She was usually engaged militarily in Europe because of selfish interest,
where her best Commanders were regularly deployed.
As a result, those who commanded in the Colonies were usually Aristocrats;
Members of Lords and more critically, predictable military mediocrities.
We defeated Britain for two core reasons:
* We fought a guerilla war they were rattled by and unfamiliar with.
* British officers of the caliber of Wellington were never sent the Colonies.
