Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., on Sunday said the progressives in the Democratic Party “scared the bejeezus” out of voters.

In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Manchin lamented Democrats “didn’t have a very good message to be honest with you.”

“Four years ago in rural America and America in general voted for Donald Trump because Democrats were mad… thought they were left behind… [and given] no pathway forward,” he said.

“They went from being mad to being scared in 2020,” he said. “The so-called radical left … basically scared the bejeezus out of people. … that’s not who we are, that’s not what we’re about.”

Manchin emphasized the label of socialism is “an albatross around our necks.”

“Joe Biden said he’s going to be a president for all of us,” he said, arguing the 2020 election was “a wake-up call for all of us.”

“The country is more divided now than at any time in our history… or since the Civil War,” he said. “And we don't want to go back to those days."

This is the reason I am somewhat optimistic.

Trump may lose, but he wasn't repudiated.

After the rout in 2018, we almost got the House back.  These are MAGA people, the GOP is being transformed, and I thoroughly expect a Red Wave in 2022 that will solidly turn the House MAGA.  Then we block Biden and take back the WH in 2024.   The Battle is just heating up.

Trump will continue the fight no matter what.

Well, Joe, you may say nasty stuff about the leftists, but since you knew all that and stayed in the Party, it was not a deal breaker for you.

Trump won WV with about 70% of the vote. Although most of us who are registered Republicans would be more than happy to get rid of Weathervane Joe, the registered Dems - who comprise over half of the registered voters - will still vote for him. It's like a cult.

I think he was noticing the overwhelming WV citizens' vote for the GOP of 68.7% in the Presidential race.

As long as he votes along with Schumer et al, he is nothing but a liberal and needs defeating.

Here are some stats fence sitter Joe better ponder....

1.  Only 1 state...  Wyoming at 70% exceeded West Virgina's 68.6% voting for Trump as highest percentage.

2.  Trends?

In 2012 Manchin won his state with 60.6%
In 2018 Manchin got 49.6%, and squeaked out a victory by 18K votes

2024 won't come quick enough.

Minchin is not intelligent. Lucky for him Bob Casey is still in the Senate, so no one can call Joe the stupidest member of that august body.
