Yesterday, #WalterWallace was killed by Philadelphia police.

Wallace needed help, he needed a mental health counselor. Instead, his story is like so many others—a life ended prematurely by police who were ill equipped and too quick to use deadly force that killed a black man.

What happened during those earlier visits — including which officers responded and how much they knew about Wallace’s mental health problems — remained unclear Tuesday. Asked at a news briefing, Commissioner Danielle Outlaw declined to offer details about any prior contact police had with Wallace, saying the incident remained under investigation.

A lawyer for Wallace’s family, Shaka Johnson, said that before the shooting, relatives had called 911 asking for an ambulance — not police officers — to help mitigate the 27-year-old’s spiraling condition. Johnson blasted the Police Department’s response, saying Wallace’s pregnant wife told officers when they arrived that her husband had bipolar disorder.

This never would have gotten as far under Richard Daley or Frank Rizzo. And the thugs knew it.
And both mayor were Dems. Rizzo only switched parties after he was out of office. Times were different then...thugs got punished for their crimes.

For a number of years I lived 30 miles north of Houston.  After a period of time, I stopped watching local Houston evening news because they had to spend at least 15-20 minutes at the beginning explaining how many people were killed due to crime that day.  During that time, a woman reporter quit; she said she could not stay and have to report so many deaths every day.
