The Biden team is under fire for releasing a TV campaign ad last week depicting a Michigan bar owner struggling to keep his business afloat during the pandemic.

What the ad fails to mention is the man is actually a wealthy tech investor who made contributions to the former vice president’s campaign. He also supported Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's stay-at-home orders that kept businesses shuttered longer.

The ad, which was posted to YouTube on Thursday and aired Sunday on CBS during NFL games, features Joe Malcoun, who is listed as the “co-owner” of The Blind Pig, a once-popular bar and music venue in Ann Arbor, Mich. Malcoun blamed his business’ economic downturn on President Trump’s COVID-19 response.

“For 50 years, The Blind Pig has been open and crowded – but right now it’s an empty room,” he says in the one-minute ad, showing the empty venue. “This is the reality of Trump’s COVID response.”

The struggling Michigan bar owner at the center of a Joe Biden campaign ad is actually a wealthy tech investor whose startup was seeded by a large family inheritance.

The ad, which the Biden campaign released Thursday, identifies Michigan entrepreneur Joe Malcoun as co-owner of the Blind Pig, a bar and live music venue in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Malcoun blames the bar's misfortunes on "Trump's COVID response," warning that unless voters elect Biden, "a lot of restaurants and bars that have been mainstays for years" will not survive.

But Malcoun faces little risk of losing his financial livelihood to the pandemic.

According to a 2018 interview with local NBC affiliate Click on Detroit, Malcoun became a well-known "angel investor" in local tech startups after receiving a large inheritance from his wife's late grandfather roughly a decade ago. He described the inheritance as "almost like winning the lottery."

"Usually you become a CEO and you make money, and then the money allows you to become an angel investor first," he said. "I happened to have different circumstances where I had money [first]."

The bar's problem - assuming that isn't also a lie - is Goobernor Whitmer's shutdown order.

A Michigan music venue owner featured in a Joe Biden ad campaign lamenting his struggles to survive during coronavirus restrictions is actually a wealthy tech investor — who supported local lockdowns, according to reports.

Joe Malcoun was featured in the heart-tugging Biden ad that aired during NFL games Sunday complaining about the chances of his Ann Arbor bar and music venue, the Blind Pig, surviving the pandemic.

“We don’t know how much longer we can survive not having any revenue,” he complained in the ad. “This is the reality of Trump’s COVID response … This is Donald Trump’s economy,” he said.

How would they ever win anything if they told the truth?   Would be funny if God struck them with that curse of having to tell the truth, like in that movie Liar Liar.   They would literally self-destruct if they couldn't lie.
