This guy ought to close up shop and move himself and family to a deep red state somewhere.

If Biden wins, they're gonna be comin' after him, one way or another...

After the New York Post published shocking revelations that Hunter Biden leveraged Joe Biden’s position and influence to make money in Ukraine and a series of photos showing Hunter apparently in the throes of a drug binge, the computer shop owner who transferred the data to both the FBI and Rudy Giuliani spoke to the media in a nearly hour-long audio interview.

John Paul Mac Isaac, the owner of a Mac computer repair store in Delaware who came into possession of an abandoned laptop previously owned by Hunter, spoke to the media for nearly an hour, and suggested there is far more content than what the Post published, including illegal content, and said that he fears for his life because of the content on the hard drive. Isaac also hinted that the FBI is covering up the contents on the laptop as a political favor to the Biden family, and claimed that the FBI warned him not to go public with the information in his possession.

At one point in the interview, Isaac explained that during his career as a computer repair professional, he once encountered child porn when repairing a man’s computer and immediately called the police. He compared that to this incident, and said that while he did not see child porn on Hunter’s computer, he saw illegal materials and  discussions of illegal activities that made him believe his “life would be in danger.”

Why...why,  would people give his full name and information?  THAT WAS DONE ON PURPOSE.  I can't  believe people would  be that stupid.  On purpose.  Biden running for president....then his son.  Anything to protect them.

@Fishrrman

I doubt it. Whacking him now only gives him more credibility,and not only do Biden and the Dims have nothing to gain,they lose any credibility they had,and might even get people to thinking about and looking for co-conspirators.

Best to just let him go and keep denying guilt. If there are no charges pressed and no court case,it will soon be forgotten,and "forgotten" will be the one thing the Dims want most of all.

There should be a work order with initial plans wrt scope and with evidence of a down-payment (wherein the work order operates as the receipt). So yeah, the client receives a copy, and the original should be in the shop records.

There is a work order.  If you go to the original NY Post article, it's there.  Just scroll down until you see the subpoena.  There are two other pages with images and the work order is the third page:

As @roamer_1 has pointed out, the tech started off with a copy of the drive's image before he even looked at the directory trees.  It's the first thing a recovery specialist does.  He didn't have to go out of his way to make a copy because he would have already had it in his file server.  In fact, he could produce an exact copy today, if asked.

That's right... Right now, I haven't looked lately, but I am probably carrying around eight images in the server... Only one of those is current - I just finished a recovery about a week ago.

The first thing is to pull a raw image of the drive. Hopefully that is the only access to the physical drive I will ever make. All recovery attempts will be made from that image, rather than messing with the original drive... And at that, the original image is kept pristine too, being used over and again to copy onto a working drive where the actual recovery takes place. That working drive may be scrubbed and re-imaged multiple times, during multiple attempts.

After a successful pull is made and the results assembled into a recovery, I will keep the image around for a while... Usually something between 30 and 60 days, just in case some critical data was missed that I might have to go back in for. Super critical drive images may even be kept longer.

I don't control all that by the way... the folder structure that I store images to, and the folders the recoveries reside in are automatically cleaned out every thirty days by script, so the longest I will keep an image/recovery is approaching 60 days unless an image is special (like a lawyer's drive, which I might hold until the cases he is working on close)... Those special drive images and their recoveries are handled manually and stored differently.

I imagine a larger shop would have enough server drive space for a hundred images, and tape backup to boot.  I have a chron-job set up to roll weekly backups of the TBR database, and it housecleans files older than 30 days.  I should probably set up daily incrementals....

But yeah, the physical drive is the weakest link and probably caused the crash that drove the customer to you in the first place.  The fewer reads from that train wreck, the better, so one raw copy, then put it away safe after making your first working copy.  BTW, I am really lovin' this SSD I have in my newest machine.  Boots in seconds.
