‘Boobytrap’ political sign slices Michigan township worker’s fingers
'Why would someone set a boobytrap sign to harm someone?' a local official asked

A booby-trapped  Trump-Pence sign has left a southeast Michigan township worker with 13 stitches in his fingers after he tried to move a razor-blade lined political sign that was too close to the road, according to a report.

“Why would someone set a boobytrap sign to harm someone?” township supervisor Dave Scott told WDIV Local 4.  “A child could have picked it up.”

Scott thought he had been electrocuted as he tried to remove two political signs that were 9 feet within the road right-of-way – but razor blades were taped along the edges of the sign.

The signs belonged to a homeowner who said several of her Trump campaign signs were stolen and then returned later.

She said she didn’t know about the razor blades.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a full investigation.

This is why I don't like the "booby-trap signs," and why lethal booby-traps are illegal.  They don't discriminate the targets from innocent violators.  I understand the desire to do it, but it's not worth the legal liability.

I wonder what "too close to the road" means - or whether that really was the case here.
Razor blades are a bit much, but small electric shocks ...

So, did the homeowner set the trap for the sign thieves or did the sign thieves set a trap for her?

While either is plausible, I'm inclined toward thinking it was a trap set for the owner. Even if the riots are ignored the anti-Trump nastiness and violence have been amazing to me.

Similar to a buddy of mine decades ago who kept getting his fender skirts stolen.

One day he came out to his car and the skirts were there, but there was a dent in the side of the car and a lot of blood right around the wheel well were the would be thief lacerated himself and took it out on the car.
