In a nutshell, if 'they' killed him, he'd be a martyr, and all Hell would break loose. The Left here would be dragged out and eliminated, much like the Terror in France. While some folks on the Right might be eliminated in such a purge, the folks on the Left would not likely survive short of flight.
It would be counterproductive, at least for them. Peeling back that rock here might well convince other countries' populations who are not happy with the growing globalistic nonsense to revolt as well. If we broke it here, it might fall apart all over.
