Hollywood's Apocalypse NOW: Rich and famous are fleeing in droves as liberal politics and coronavirus turn City of Dreams into cesspit plagued by junkies and violent criminals

Gold's Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream.

Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold's was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.

The film turned him into an overnight sensation. He would go on to become a global superstar, marry a member of the Kennedy clan, and become Governor of California.

For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16

Nope/ My sis manages a summer house for somebody whose name you'd know... And they have been here all summer long, with no plans on returning.

Hollywood and their liberal mindset in part created the problem to begin with.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

They are one third of the evil three-headed monster that created the problem:
academia, Hollyweird, and the media. Of the three academia is the worst villain. The other two got their inspiration from academia.

Not just created, but relentlessly and shamelessly promoted this crap.

A long litany of dystopian futures hasn't helped give hope for anything but Thunderdome.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

As is my habit in watching a lot of movies from a  half a century ago and more, I like to read the bios of the old movie stars on IMDB.
It was surprising to me to see how many of the old movie stars were Republicans. And not just the males, many big name female stars were Republicans as well. Barbara Stanwyck for one.
Times sure do change.

Well, there was a time the Communists were pretty much shut down...

Absolutely. The media demonized him, people fell for it, the communists went on full attack, and now look at the mess we have--purt'near all Marxist at its roots.  It isn't that our nation hasn't committed its share of sins, often against her own--of all colors, but how many nations have learned and remedied those and repented like this one has?
Yet we have found new ways to offend The Almighty, from the murder of babies in utero to polluting the minds of children with confusion and tales of unnatural acts, a grievous return to the antediluvian days of Noah.

What grieves me most is the slide toward godless Communism, nearly all the different goals of 1963 being fulfilled, and even with the list people couldn't/wouldn't/didn't want to admit that was happening.
They even declared Communism "dead", but -isms don't die. Those philosophers lurk in the shadows and hide in plain sight, rebranded, and gather strength and followers too ignorant to recognize the demons they dance with.

So, here we are.

It'd take a mighty upheaval and no small amount of Divine Providence for this nation to return to even 1965 in quality of life, moral fiber, and broad based desire to excel, at least in my anticipated lifetime (if I live to my Dad's age, which may not happen).

Even so... We are made susceptible. Liberty is among the most fragile things there is. And without the confident assumption of her responsibilities, one is left with mere freedom, which lies at the door to slavery. Proven over and again.

Oh, no where near (as in: You ain't seen nothin yet). We are just now cracking open the sins of the Days of Noah.

The judgement against nations is oft ignored in Christian circles, but it is a real and dire thing. And it is without succor, except in the promise that Yah raises hope and desire for repentance as bulwarks against evil as it rises. But the heart of the nation must be turned back toward YHWH. And that hardly ever happens without the next part... The bondage part... The pleading prayer that comes in utter distress. I am afraid we've made our bed already.

Good post.

That's what it's gonna take.
A mighty upheaval.
It seems to be coming, one way or the other.

Hollywood and their liberal mindset in part created the problem to begin with.

They don't believe it was their liberal mindset that caused the problems.

They just believe the right people weren't in charge
