TOPLINE

The U.S. Postal Service issued letters in July to 46 states and Washington D.C. warning their election deadlines may result in mail-in ballots being delivered too late to be counted,  according to a report in the Washington Post, escalating concerns about how the USPS will handle the November election amid recent changes to the agency, which CNN reports are now under review by the agency’s inspector general.

The Post reports that six states—Vermont, Utah, Washington, California, Hawaii and Colorado, plus D.C.—have been warned that a “narrow set of voters” could have their ballots delayed, while 40 states have been issued “heightened warnings” about the possibility of ballots arriving after the deadline.

Either democrats want this mail-in voting to get around the electoral college. or they believe thay will remain in control of the house and the President will have to be decided there.

We'll have to wait for those ballots to be mailed in and counted, I'm sure. Gotta count every vote doncha know.

And by then the rats should know which states they're behind in and how many bogus ballots they need to catch up.

All the more reason why Republicans and traditional-minded Americans should try to vote IN PERSON at the polls on election day (or earlier if in-person voting is permitted in the days preceding election day). A ballot cast in person is worth more than two, three, or more ballots "cast by mail" that don't arrive in time.

Once the election is done, there are something like 35 days within which the electors for the presidential election must be finalized. Called "safe harbor" I believe. After that the electors are "fixed", and states which have not appointed them by that date will be ignored (insofar as their electors are concerned).

That could mean states like New Jersey actually being denied participation in the electoral college, IF they have not or will not certify their electors within 35 days.

I'm wondering what action would be taken in Congress if even one state fails to make this deadline?

If the "denied state" tries to force Congress to accept its electors, what would happen?

Interesting times ahead...

Postal union endorses Biden candidacy as 'survival' of USPS at stake

David Shepardson

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The 300,000-member National Association of Letter Carriers said on Friday that the union’s executive council had endorsed Democrat Joe Biden for president, warning “the very survival” of the U.S. Postal Service is at stake.

The union criticized Republican President Donald Trump and his administration for refusing “to provide the necessary financial relief that would strengthen the agency during this pandemic.”

Trump’s campaign did not immediately comment.

The union called Biden “a fierce ally and defender” of the Postal Service. The union also said Senator Kamala Harris, Biden’s vice presidential pick, has “staunchly defended maintaining a healthy, financially stable Postal Service.”
