Postal Service warns 46 states mail ballots may not be delivered in time to be counted
By Max Greenwood - 08/14/20 03:54 PM EDT

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has warned officials in 46 states and the District of Columbia that delivery delays may mean that many ballots cast by mail in the November election won’t arrive in time to be counted.

The warnings, delivered in letters to state election officials by USPS general counsel and executive vice president Thomas Marshall, were first reported on Friday by The Washington Post, which obtained the documents through a records request.

In letters to 40 states, the Postal Service warned that state deadlines to request, return and count ballots may clash with the realities of mail delivery at a time when USPS is already facing financial troubles, delivery delays and an expected influx of election-related mail, the Post reported.

Among those states were critical electoral battlegrounds such as Florida and Michigan, according to the Post’s reporting.

Each State should take that into account before choosing to change longstanding election laws.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

How about getting the Post Offices up to snuff before even trying?  And look to the laboratories with a microscope...Oregon for example.

Wait.... only in 46 states???   Something's wrong here.   I would have thought it would be more like 49 states where they are fubared.

An aside, I get other people's mail in my mailbox all the time.   Which is why I have gone to virtually all paperless re: bills and banking.   The only mail of mine that the US Postal Service is mis-delivering now is advertisements and crap.

It'll never happen.   Hell, even here in Texas, the "work ethic" at the post office is to work as slow as humanly possible.  I know because my step-daughter worked there for a brief period of time.  She was literally threatened by employees there because she was being too 'efficient' (making them look bad).  Can't have that.   So she quit.  It was a lose-lose scenario.  Anyone that takes pride in their work performance should never even bother going to work for the US Post Office.

Ok, that's that issue.  I'm waiting for liberals states to declare that polls will not be open due to COVID.  There's no way that this election is going to be a legitimate one.

I don't mean to continually see things so gloomy, but does anyone truly see things any differently with everything going on in this country with the liberal states, BLM, Antifa, etc.,?  Sure it is nice to be optimistic, but I think it's time to be realistic.

How can they justify not having polls open.... when people are going into stores everywhere with masks on and conducting business with masks on.  They're pushing mask wearing as the "end all" solution.
So all voters have to do is wear a mask into the polling places.

Plus... Fredo is being strong-armed by the teachers unions to open the schools up.  If that happens, there's no way in hell they could get away with trying to keep the polls closed.   But we'll see.   It's hard not to be negative with everything going on.... but the left would have to successfully lock down the nation again for the polls to not open for this election (I think).

I haven't payed bills by mail for about 25 years.

Many people pay their bills on-line and do on-line banking.  Our accounts have been "hacked" several times and so I go the old fashioned route.

Also, a few months ago, cell phone service with several carriers were down and I was unable to get the codes needed in order to access our bank account, my e-mail, Amazon, Walmart, etc.

I think it's important to keep a continual paper trail of bank balances as well as important docs like mortgage deeds, taxes paid, etc., and definitely don't rely on everything being accessible on-line as accurate -- one day we will see a major cyber attack and those that don't have a paper trail are going to find things difficult to prove.

It's been 20 years for me.

That's because you're a whippersnapper.   I feel old right now...the A/C died in Mrs. Liberty's car, and it's been hotter than f*** driving around town in the 115F heat.   Now I feel brilliant!  Even though I haven't been able to fix anything on cars since 1995 (the pride of my youth), I found YouTube videos on changing the A/C fan and discovered it's EZ, and Amazon had a replacement part.  I got the part yesterday, and today I was brilliant and replaced the fan.  @Slip18's hero again!

Cool air!  Baby, I need cool air...and now I have it!  Gotta whole lotta love....a whole lotta love.......

You can go online and print out a .pdf bank statement of any month at any time that would serve as your "paper trail".   And the same with utility bills and other bills.   I print them out vs. having them mailed.   My concern is with others receiving MY mail and with identify theft.  Just sayin.....

  Good for you and God bless YouTube "how to/DIY" videos!   I learned how to fix my kitchen faucet leak and replace a toilet fill valve (among other fixes) by watching those.  Very handy when you are loathe to spend the money on something you could fix yourself.   As for computer fixes, I generally also go to the geek forums for answers.
