Christie: If Mayors ‘Too Politically Timid’ to Deal with Riots, Trump Will

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said during a panel discussion on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopolous” on Sunday that mayors of towns where rioting is taking place “are too politically timid” to address those behaviors, so President Donald Trump has to deal with it.

“And if the mayors of those towns are too politically timid to address people who are defacing and destroying their cities, then the president of the United States has to deal with it, and so I do think it's an effective thing to do. I don't know whether it's going to make sense politically or not for him, George, but it's his responsibility, as president, if the mayors are willing to walk away from their own responsibility, not to support peaceful protests, but to stop violent riots,” he said..........

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Interesting that he's decided to speak out since we haven't heard from this side of the 'peanut gallery' in awhile.

Free publicity, I guess.  Maybe he's running for something.

@libertybele,all

Are the Governors of these states just going to be allowed to get away with doing nothing to protect their citizens?

BTW,despite what the media suggests,I strongly suspect THIS is going to be the thing that gets Trump elected,as people who never before gave a thought to voting Republican suddenly realize who saved them and their homes from destruction by roaming mobs.

THIS is where "the rubber REALLY meets the road".

And the Dims will have done it to themselves.

@corbe

No kidding. Anybody that can successfully maneuver the cesspool of politics in the northeast and get elected as a Republican is a real "operator".
