A source who viewed the interior vehicle video recording of the brutal murder of a taxi driver in Portland by a trans suspect is providing exclusive details to The Post Millennial.

Moses Jacob Lopez, 30, has been charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon over the stabbing murder of a Radio Cab driver on Easter Sunday in southeast Portland. Six days before the murder, Lopez was arrested and charged with felonies for allegedly threatening a BiMart shopper with a knife in another Oregon county. Lopez was quickly released without bail before making her his way to Portland from Coos Bay, Ore.

According to the source, the video captured Lopez entering the car while wearing a tiara and women’s clothing. She He gives an address to the driver and several minutes into the ride, Lopez suddenly plunged a blade deep into the neck of the unsuspecting driver. ...

REI to close only Portland store, citing break-ins, theft

The outdoor retail giant REI announced Monday that it plans to close its store in Portland’s Pearl District early next year, citing an increase in crime and theft.

In an email to customers Monday, REI said its store in Portland “had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security.”

It plans to close the location ahead of its lease expiration in February.

REI is the latest major retailer to close Portland stores, and the highest-profile among them to publicly blame theft as the reason. Nike closed one of its Portland stores to public access, telling city officials the closure was due to shoplifting. What is to be Portland’s first Shake Shack was hit by vandals before it even opened.

According to KGW8, someone broke a window in the brand-new restaurant but did not appear to get inside.

The new location on West Burnside across from Powell's Books is scheduled to open next Monday. According to police, the vandalism happened earlier this week.

Crime is so rampant in the city that on Monday REI announced it was closing its only Portland location after almost two decades in the Rose City after the store “had its highest number of break-ins and thefts in two decades, despite actions to provide extra security.” ...

Oregon Democrats Want to Give Homeless the Right to Sue If Forced to Move Their Encampments

Oregon proposed a law allowing homeless people to sue municipalities for as much as $1,000 per violation as part of a new initiative to decriminalize homelessness.

House Bill 3501, known as the Right to Rest Act, would allow homeless individuals to use public spaces in "the same manner as any other person" without discrimination for their housing status, despite residents expressing frustration over the impending safety and hygienic issue.

Homeless people could also be awarded a hefty sum if they are "harassed" by anyone trying to make them move.  ...

Portland wants to re-fund its police

Portland, OR was one of the leading voices in the “Defund the Police” movement in the wake of George Floyd’s death. Politicians gave into the demands of like-minded rioters and activists and began cutting the budget of the city’s Bureau of Police.

On its face, this should have been seen as a bad decision since the very people making the demands were rioting and damaging private and public property. So, at a time when a greater police presence was needed, city government cut back on police.

The politicians gave into the demands of criminals and expected them to… what? Go home? Play nice?

Defunding the police has just emboldened the criminals wherever it was tried, endangering lives and driving away people and business.

Now, with the damage done and its tax base shrinking, Portland has realized it needs police. Unfortunately, now, it is more burdensome to fund them and harder to attract officers to a city where they know the government doesn’t want them. Gee, if only they had maintained their police force and supported them when they had the chance, they might not find themselves in the predicament they do.

The city recently launched new task force focused on cracking down on retail and vehicle theft to halt the city's rampant crime. To do this, they are working to hire more DAs and investigators, which means they are putting more money toward policing after cutting the budget by $15 million.

Portland is one of a number of major and minor American cites who have elected not just typical soft-hearted liberal Dems but outright hardcore leftists like Portland's mayor, Ted Wheeler who sneer at traditional ways of running cities and truly believe that, like Barack Obama said, America needs a fundamental transformation to the left.
What has resulted, of course, is the breakdown of law and order and even standards of health in many cities.
You'd think the residents would get a clue. Supposedly, in Portland and some other cities they are backtracking on some of their really stupid decisions like defunding the police, but great damage has been done.
And furthermore, the residents of these liberal cities tend to keep electing idiot leftist transformers. Chicago had a chance to get a lukewarm liberal elected mayor after tossing out a hardcore leftist mayor, Lori Lightbrain, but decided to elected another hardcore leftist who has all the wrong answers to the city's pressing problems.
In short, it's the residents of these cities who keep electing idiot leftist mayors that is the problem. They're the ones who need major brain transplants. Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

You don't see this crap in Singapore.  In the 1990s, I remember when Singapore authorities gave an American teenager a felony caning for vandalism.  You don't see too many American teenagers vandalizing Singapore these days.

For the first time in over a decade, Oregon’s Multnomah County, which includes Portland, saw its population decrease in 2021, according to numbers released by the US Census Bureau.

12,494 people, or 1.5 percent of the population fled the liberal county. The Portland Metro area itself saw a more modest decline of 0.2 percent after growing for 30 years straight.
 
The population loss was comparatively less than in other urban areas, as residents and businesses flee the Democratic strongholds due to rising crime and increasing costs of living. Comparatively, San Francisco lost 6.3 percent of its residents in one year.

According to the data, US cities with high housing costs saw people fleeing for more affordable, midsized cities. As residents left the Bay Area and Los Angeles, cities such as St. George, Utah, and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, saw the most percentage increases.
