Chicago mayor says she won't allow federal agents to come 'play police' in her city amid violence

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot remains adamant that she will not allow federal troops to quell her city despite President Trump's push to send them.
Trump's move to send 200 federal officers into Chicago comes as the city follows an 80% surge of murders and shootings. The president has sent agents into other cities to help control the growing unrest and violence seen across the country, but Lightfoot said it's improbable to solve local issues by sending in people who aren't familiar with her city.
"We can’t just allow anyone to come into Chicago, play police in our streets and our neighborhoods when they don’t know the first thing about our city," Lightfoot said on CNN's State of the Union on Sunday. "That’s a recipe for disaster, and that’s what you're seeing playing out in Portland on a nightly basis. We don’t need that here. That is not a value add, and it doesn’t help enhance our public safety."
Her comments come shortly after a top Department of Homeland Security official said Lightfoot had "turned 180 degrees" on working with Trump regarding federal agents.
