   President Trump: Do Something

Trump owes it to all Americans, past and present, to preserve their heritage and restore order.
By Christopher Roach • June 28, 2020

The last few weeks have seen a nonstop explosion of disorder, violence, and hostility to America and its history. The message is plain: the old America was bad to its core, worthy of no respect, and therefore its heroes, history, and heritage must be paved over to make way for a new order.

President Trump predicted something like this in the wake of the Charlottesville protests over the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee when he suggested George Washington and Thomas Jefferson would be next. He was right.

In recent weeks, while expressing humane thoughts of sympathy for the family of George Floyd, Trump has been highly critical of the riots and their attack on statues. When unrest began, he tweeted, “I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard.”

Help came too late. The looting and rioting rendered Minneapolis a war zone. Since that time, violent protests have happened around the county. National Guard troops have been mostly absent or, when they did appear, they were unarmed.

Trump’s campaign has suggested that riots and more disorder will happen if Biden is elected. The problem with this argument is that disorder is already happening now under President Trump.

Admittedly, Trump has had a difficult fight from the beginning. He has been hamstrung by investigations, a hostile deep state resistance from career civil servants, and a nakedly partisan propaganda campaign by the media. Nevertheless, he has a job to do. He’s not merely citizen Trump. He’s not just an observer. It’s his FBI. It’s his government to run. It’s his military to command. If he can’t run it, he needs to fire people until he can get the right people where they belong.

He is doing something. He's literally posting pictures of people on Twitter to turn them in.

He's not a dictator, we have due process in this country.

So the president of the United States is responsible for all the statues in the country?
Where is that is the Constitution?

Justify it all you want, but he is going to lose by talking big with no action.

Big whoop. Years from now, he'll be found to be right...
Considering his penchant for sensationalism, his unswerving dedication to optics, he must know that's not going to matter at all.

Somethings I think, that may be the best that will come of it, that maybe in the future, when the smoke clears, people will know the truth about these years.   Trump has flaws, sure.  But nobody has faced the kind of BS he has.

I still think he will be re-elected (although I am not as confident as before), but I have no illusions that it's going to be any better his second term.

Never thought I would say it, but due process will be what will be doing us in, in what constitutes a Civil War.  You don't let war criminals out on bail.

I think that's mostly bullcrap. They done the same to Dubya. Whatever extra he's getting is largely due to what he dishes out. He made his bed, let him lie in it.

That might be right. I never thought he would win big anyway. This was always going to come down to the same populist argument, without much to change people's minds.  That he is up against a man with obvious dementia, with liberal cities in self destruct mode and there is even a question, simply proves the point.

In a war where you have no jurisdiction, there is still plenty that can be done... None of which he is doing.

Same here.  Not a fan of Trump, but if we ever ever needed a unifying reason, defeating Biden in November would be it

I don't think we're quite there yet. Anyway, again this is an issue of state rights. These governors can declare martial law too if they want to.

At some point Trump is going to have to say enough is enough, its up to me to clean up this mess.  The police can't do it, neither can weekend warrior Guardsmen.  This is going to take military action with authority to take offensive action to put the sedition minded BLM and Antifa under military arrest with military tribunals.  These people have gone way beyond peaceful protest protected by law.  Looters should be shot on sight.  Same for arsonists.  Same for those destroying public property.  Same for those bringing violence to another individual.  Anything less will not solve this problem.

Ehhhhh... problem is the protesters are mostly not armed. So involving the military will lead to a Kent State scenario which is exactly what they want.

In the end, that's likely right.
But there is much he can do leading to that before the fact. None of which is being done. Political posturing means nothing.

I don't think anyone is advocating killing unarmed protesters.  OTOH, a Molotov Cocktail, a sledgehammer, or any other means of property destruction is, and should be dealt with accordingly,

The most lasting impact of Kent State, was that Vietnam became "Nixon's War",   people today associate Nixon more with Vietnam than LBJ.  And that is exactly what the Democrats wanted to do the moment Nixon got into the White House...Mission Accomplished!

No, the lasting thing about Kent State is that government will not respond violently to riots, even when they should. Killing the killers is off the table.

Yes, this is a state's issue.  However, when innocents or being harmed and/or their businesses destroyed and the state's governors refuse to protect, then it becomes Trump's duty to protect the citizens of this country.  Insurrection Act -- both Kennedy and Johnson used it -- in fact Johnson used it numerous times.

I understand and somewhat share your sentiment, BUT, these people voted for this crap and have been slamming Trump for 4 years, pushing for phony impeachments and the like...  they are getting what they asked for...

Undoubtedly, but how does not resolving the issue help us take our country back, and also how does that help us retain our Republic, keep the WH and Senate? It doesn't, it's doing just the opposite.

They need time to realize that the socialist crap they have been voting for does not work and that maybe, just maybe, us "conservatives" are not all wrong...  If we make it to easy they will just do the same thing over again and expect different results... insanity...
