Why Can't America Let South Korea Defend Itself?

The current spike in inter-Korean tensions is an example of a quarrel that could embroil the United States in an armed conflict that would have little to do with issues crucial to America. It’s time for Washington to begin disengaging from its increasingly obsolete commitment to the ROK’s defense.
by Ted Galen Carpenter

Tensions between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the communist Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) are escalating at an alarming rate. First, North Korea severed all communication lines between the two Korean states on June 8. Now, the DPRK regime has destroyed the liaison office the two governments jointly maintained in the North Korean city of Kaesong. The gleaming blue-glass four-story structure- was “ruined with a terrific explosion,” North Korea’s state news agency KCNA boasted. It was an important and worrisome gesture, since the office was a key symbol of greater inter-Korean cooperation.

Because... they couldn't.
They would be overrun in short order.

Our entry into the Great War, because of Wilson, another POTUS buffoon, internationalized our affairs.
This triggered an endless stream of economic and political treaties across the globe ever since;
committing the USA to defend and support much of the rest of the world!!!

It wasn't just North Korea, in the end, it was the Chinese Communists who came across the Yalu. My father fought both. Chinese lives were apparently cheap, likely urged on by machine guns behind them. The war has not ended, technically, there has only been a protracted cease fire, not an armistice or treaty.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

@rangerrebew

Yeah,SK would last maybe 15 minutes against the combined might of NK and China.

No way in HELL are we ever going to go to war with China. Wal-Mart would have to close,and Amazon  would probably go out of business,too.
