School Districts Across The Country Move To Cut Contracts With Local Police

A number of school districts in the United States are moving to cut contracts with local police as riots break out across the country against police brutality and as the Black Lives Matter movement pressures politicians to defund the police altogether.
Earlier this week, the Minneapolis Public School Board voted to end its contract with MPD over the death of George Floyd. “I value people and education and life,†school board chairwoman Kim Ellison said in an interview. “Now I’m convinced, based on the actions of the Minneapolis Police Department, that we don’t have the same values.â€
Two members of the Denver school board are urging the district to cut contracts with DPD and are set to bring a resolution forward Monday to have officers completely removed from the schools in the district by 2021.
