Marine's death in training under investigation

CAMP LEJEUNE — A Marine who officials say died in training aboard Camp Lejeune has been buried in his hometown.

Camp Lejeune officials say 19-year-old PFC Tyler Cox died on base April 29.

    “It is with a heavy heart that we recognize the passing of one of our own,” says LtCol Neil Berry, battalion commander, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division. “The 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines family is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Pfc. Cox. We extend our condolences and unwavering support to his family and friends during this difficult time.”

His personal awards include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Medal.

For anyone who doesn't know. This does NOT mean they think he was murdered or died under mysterious circumstances.

It is SOP to do an investigation of deaths that happen during training accidents to try to prevent them from happening again in the future.

It is a dangerous job,even in training,and sometimes "stuff" just happens. It's the nature of the job.
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!
