Grenell releases list of officials who sought to 'unmask' Flynn: Biden, Comey, Obama intel chiefs among them

Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell has released a list of names of Obama administration officials who purportedly requested to "unmask" the identity of Michael Flynn during the presidential transition period.

The list features top figures including then-Vice President Joe Biden, then-FBI Director James Comey and intelligence chiefs John Brennan and James Clapper. It also included Obama's then-chief of staff.

"I declassified the enclosed document, which I am providing to you for your situational awareness," Grenell wrote to GOP senators in sending along the list.

Trump administration sends list to Congress of Obama officials who 'unmasked' Flynn

The Trump administration has sent Congress a list of dozens of Obama administration officials who they say asked for documents that led to the identity of former national security adviser Michael Flynn being "unmasked" from intelligence reports between the 2016 election and President Trump’s inauguration.

A copy of the list obtained by The Hill includes a who's who of Obama-era officials, including then-Vice President Joe Biden, former White House chief of staff Denis McDonough, former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan.

Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Richard Grenell declassified and then sent the list of names to GOP Sens. Ron Johnson (Wis.) and Chuck Grassley (Iowa) on Wednesday.

“I am providing a revised list of identities of any officials who submitted requests to the National Security Agency at any point between 8 November 2016 and 31 January 2017 to unmask the identity of former National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Michael T. Flynn USA-Ret.),” the document from Grenell. The list has been re-organized into chronological order.

1/2  A bunch of stuff...follow the thread: No report for 29, 30, or 31st of December is big! Only 2 reasons that date wasn’t listed. Either NSA didn’t intercept call and it was CIA, or that info is front of the grand jury and that person is either a target or a witness.

Biden's top comms aide is now attacking Catherine Herridge for simply reporting that Obama officials sought to unmask Flynn in late 2016 and early 2017.

Biden's team is freaking out about the revelations because they suggest Biden lied about Flynn.

Sen. Rand Paul announced Wednesday he’s requesting acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell testify before a government oversight subcommittee next week about a newly released list of Obama administration officials who sought the unmasking of incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn during the transition to the Trump administration.

Paul, a Kentucky Republican, said in a press conference that the list of names reveals the top leaders in the Obama administration, including the president, were involved.

"The only question that remains is: What did President Obama know, and when did he know it?” Paul said, adding later in the press conference that “President Obama was in this up to his eyeballs.”

Paul is chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Federal Spending Oversight and Emergency Management.

The scandal isn't the unmasking by itself. It's the leaking of that unmasked, classified info to The Washington Post.

The request under Biden's name was made on Jan. 12, 2017, which is the same day that the details of the Flynn-Kislyak call info were leaked and published by the Washington Post.

Former Vice President Joe Biden and the directors of the three main U.S. intelligence agencies submitted so-called “unmasking” requests for information about Michael Flynn contained in highly classified intelligence reports, according to documents released Wednesday.

The documents show that an unmasking request was made in Biden’s name on Jan. 12, 2017. Similar requests were made under the names of James Comey, John Brennan and James Clapper, the former directors of the FBI, CIA and Office of the Director of National Intelligence, respectively.

Denis McDonough, who served as chief of staff to President Obama, also submitted a request on Jan. 5, 2017, the documents show.

Unmasking describes the process whereby high-level U.S. government officials request information regarding American citizens mentioned in classified foreign intelligence reports. It is not illegal to make unmasking requests, but the Flynn case is unique because information about phone calls he had with Russia’s ambassador was leaked to the media during the presidential transition period. ...

I guess it is confusing..what I meant if Trump can get out and campaign, hold rallies etc he may be able to convince all the naysayers why all these precautions were necessary..I am hoping the economy will start recovering with people going back to work...he needs to explain why HE needs to stay in office @Right_in_Virginia
