« on: April 21, 2020, 11:49:00 am »
Houston Chronicle by  Jeremy Wallace April 20, 2020

The Texas National Guard is expanding its mobile COVID-19 testing centers to reach more of the state, Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Monday.

On Monday, units opened mobile testing centers in Fredricksburg, 90 miles west of Austin, and Floresville, 30 miles outside of San Antonio, with plans for another 23 in other parts of the state soon. The National Guard can test as many as 150 people per day at each mobile testing location, Abbott said. In all, 1,200 members of the Texas National Guard will be deployed for testing.

"The State of Texas continues to expand our COVID-19 testing capacities and ensure that communities across the Lone Star State have access to the resources they need," Abbott said in a statement to the media.
