Trump says social distancing guidelines "may" be extended into summer or later

Quote
President Trump says the administration's social distancing guidelines "may" extend into summer, or perhaps beyond that, as states shift gears and plan the reopening of their economies. But there is potentially good news for summer — research shows the virus' lifespan is shortened by sunlight, heat and humidity, one administration expert said during Thursday's Coronavirus Task Force briefing.

The death toll from COVID-19 in the U.S. is likely to hit 50,000 in a couple of days, and there is no indication the pace of the nation's losses — in terms of both lives and the economy — is about to slow significantly.

The pace of death isn't slowing, and the social distance warriors have been in charge for six weeks or more.  Perhaps it's time to revisit our assumptions.  Marie Antoinette was a piker compared to these people.

If what he's saying is the WH will continue to suggest through summer that we personally maintain 6 feet between us and wear masks, then fine.

If he's talking about continued shut downs & economic strangulation then he is risking his re-election by this statement. Even if the decision is ultimately left up to the governors.

Just a few thoughts, don't mean nuthin', but...

- Would you want YOUR kids in school with other kids this fall, unless they all at least wore face masks...?  (wonderin' how they're gonna get young kids to do that)

- Would you be willing to get on a planeload full of strangers right now, masks or no masks in such a confined space for several hours...?

- Would you be willing to attend a major sports event, with thousands, masks or no masks...?

Jes' wonderin' ...

Right now I'm already thinking about a trip to Florida in November -- I go every year.  If Florida is open for business, I'm going.

This *bleep* has to end sometime.    If there is a genuine decline in the number of cases, then it's time to at least plan on a return to normalcy.    Some states aren't even thinking about it and that's wrong.  Bad for the economy for sure, but also bad for people's mental and physical health.  A lot of us just aren't meant to be apart from the people we love for so long.

And dang it -- I need a haircut  badly.
