'People would have prepared differently': Birx says WHO handling of coronavirus set US back

Dr. Deborah Birx said foreign nations would have been better equipped to deal with the coronavirus had China and the World Health Organization been more transparent during the pandemic's early days.

"You really have to go back and ask yourself, 'Why wasn't there this level of transparency when this virus exploded?'" Birx said Wednesday on the View. "I think people would have prepared differently if they had known the level of transmissibility of this virus."

President Trump on Tuesday announced he was suspending U.S. funding to the WHO as a result of what he said was the international health organization's botched handling of the virus.

"Had the WHO done its job to get medical experts into China to objectively assess the situation on the ground and to call out China's lack of transparency, the outbreak could have been contained at its source with very little death," Trump said.

Now, consider this when people start talking about "second waves" and having to intermittently do this for years until a vaccine arrives. No. The current crisis was caused by the world making decisions based on flawed, misleading information and failing to recognize the threat.

We now have experience with this virus. As it winds down, research will continue on it, so if there is a second wave, it will be met with earlier, more effective, and (most importantly) targeted and far narrower countermeasures.

We have known for decades that the UN is worthless and scapegoating the WHO will prevent us from taking the actions we need to take.
This is the 3rd or 4th time we have been subjected to a bio attack from China and we still have not taken the action we need to take to ensure our national security but we are willing to imprison our citizens and destroy our economy to be nice....
This was our fault, no one else.
