While the most spectacular “Elephant Walks†often feature dozens upon dozens of aircraft, the giant bombers stationed at Guam’s Andersen Air Force Base was a lesson in how less can sometimes be more.
Led by an MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter, a RQ-4 Global Hawk drone and a MQ4c Triton drone, a long line of Air Force B-52 Stratofortress’ and KC-135 Stratotankers were seen on April 13th, spanning Andersen’s runway system as a show of force.
In what many may see as a response to an uptick in Chinese military activity in the Pacific, the US Air Force and Navy units staged the Elephant Walk to drive home the point that readiness was not an issue for the island, which has been the focus of mainstream media due to the coronavirus outbreak.
