Iran: Muslim clerics still prompting multitudes to visit Islamic shrines amid coronavirus surge

Mar 22, 2020 4:00 pm By Christine Douglass-Williams

Iran is in shambles with coronavirus. They’ve insisted that the number of those who are infected is around 16,000, with a thousand deaths, but that was a few days ago. The number of those who are infected is multiplying fast, and the numbers Iranian officials are telling the world aren’t being believed. This is a glimpse of the situation in Iran now:

The situation the doctors describe is desperate, with nurses wrapping themselves in tablecloths because they have long since run through their supply of proper gear. They swear that the official numbers are wrong. “Just stay overnight in the hospital to find out what I’m talking about,” one wrote. Or if you want to live, go home, and don’t come out until the plague passes. “[Our] society now needs fear more than hope.”
