Whether the term "super power" needs to be used is not relevant to me.

Intelligence does call China our biggest threat. Just websearch "China Biggest Threat" and that comes up.

Yes, they are trying to spread their influence in vast ways,

Breaking this down into "super power" or "military power" really isn't that significant in discussion.

"FBI Director Christopher Wray says China is biggest threat to U.S. through economic dominance"

Why Intelligence Officials Say China Is Becoming The U.S.'s Biggest Security Threat

With Meghna Chakrabarti

The United States intelligence community is warning that China is ramping up its espionage and that the country could become the U.S.'s biggest security threat, more so than any other nation. We look at challenges posed to the U.S. in the new age of espionage.

Good enough for me, this has been heavily discussed.

Just pointing out why China is not a Super Power in any real sense of the word.

DB,
Unfortunately you're arguing w/those uninterested in truth; for them only statistics is truth.
Greece, Rome, Great Britain; among several, sowed the seeds of greatness by fostering
those character traits that made competitors keen to follow and imitate them.
At its most basic level, China is a military midget w/o either an Air force or Navy of any stature!

North Vietnam wasn't a super power, yet caused us more trouble and a lot more death than another "super power."  Status as such is not particularly relevant.  It's OK to say, "Fine, China is not a super power, but created this havoc."
For unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death — if you’re unvaccinated — for themselves, their families, and the hospitals they’ll soon overwhelm. Sloe Joe Biteme 12/16
I will NOT comply.

Another post w/the usual suspects all over the place. Predictable.
Heritage is on the mark.
China owns this as the essence of their character has been
cheating, lying and stealing for the past 4000 years
Suppressing information to defenseless neighbors, to avoid
blame, is right in line w/typical Chinese behavior.
What policies  and actions do you recommend for now, for the US dealings with PRC?

Self evidently and despite our political crapola, the USA is the superior power.
As such we inform them; not the reverse.
For starters, encourage, via our tax code, affiliates of US Multinationals to shift
production from China to Latin America (Chile, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay).

I would add India, too.

As it has every "war" ever since.  Which is terrible.

That sounds fair, too.  I've long thought the large tech companies were short-sighted when they relocated all that stuff in China.

What is this, the 1950's? Military power doesn't mean diddly-squat these days. It's ECONOMIC power that makes you Today's Masters of the Universe, and they already have most of our jobs.

Economic power, eh?  Hmm.................
And from a nation whose core traits include cheating, lying and stealing???
Power can be expressed in many ways; consider our present nemesis; disease.
Over the past 150 years, China's adversaries thrashed them w/regularity.
So a question? If we were inclined, how long would it take the USA to thrash
China, despite their "economic power" whether real or imagined?????

China has a weak hand, but they play it well?

Indeed, which begs a serious question about the competence of our leadership, for a long while.
When Britain was pre-eminent in the world, she was blessed w/extraordinary leadership.
In response to harsh questioning in Commons, over his lack of foreign policy coherence,
PM Viscount Robertson (Henry Temple) responded as below:
"Great Nations/Empires have neither friends nor allies, they simply have interests bound by circumstances and as those circumstances change over time, so will their interests."
We would be very wise to focus our foreign policy accordingly.

Their hand is hardly weak.  They have FOUR times our population....and they consider this an acceptable solution:

http://youtu.be/yL1AgOqnYYE

And what we don’t willingly give them or sell them, they’re more than happy to simply steal...including our real property and our intellectual property.

Their hand is strong because their leadership has the courage of their convictions and a population cowering under the boot of tyranny.   We have a leadership that only has the courage of the almighty shareholders report and a population begging for the boot of tyranny.

@Cyber Liberty

Close. In actuality,YOU "have no stuff" for them to steal since they outright own everything including YOU,and it's more of a "ideal system/dream come true" for the international banking families because they have plans on eventually owing the entire world, including China.

A reflection on Asian nation/states.
So they have 4X our population? Wow!
* At Arbela in 331 BC, Alexander, outnumbered 5 to 1 by Darius' Persian
horde, annihilated them in less than a day; destroying their Empire!!!
* Great Britain controlled India, having a population of 200 million,
for some 300 years, with a military/police force of 35,000!!!
* China is 25X the size of Japan, yet the latter crushed them in each of
the Sino-Japanese Wars.
In Asia, population and size mean squat; as creativity and competence trump both!!!
