Fauci and Trump struggle to stay on same page about possible coronavirus treatment

President Trump and the top government infectious disease expert were not on the same page about the promise of possible coronavirus therapies in Friday's White House press update.

Trump said that he had high hopes for the possibility that the malaria drug chloroquine would be a viable treatment option, which he had announced Thursday that the Food and Drug Administration was considering as a therapy for COVID-19.

"Maybe there is. Maybe there isn't," Trump said when asked if there could be a cure to the coronavirus. "It may work. It may not work. I feel good about it."

Well, what I recall in watching the press conference is that Fauci -- said he and Trump were not that far off -- Trump is giving his opinion that the drug may or may not work, Fauci said that he felt that it also may or may not work based on science.  Both said that they were waiting for results.  I didn't see it as a struggle at all.  The only struggle was from the journalists(?) asking Trump the question and then someone else asked almost the same question, but asked Fauci to answer.

Didn't sound like a disagreement. More like Trump not wanting to call something a sure thing before the data is in.

Every major news source is reporting this.  Everyone should watch the press conference and judge for themselves.  IMHO once again, the media, including FOX is blowing this out of proportion.  What is frustrating are the supposed journalist who ask the same questions in different ways.  It has become obvious that they are more interested in trying to make this President look bad.

Trump, Pompeo and even Fauci had to put the press in their place. Questions to enlighten the public or expand knowledge is one thing but to ask questions to invoke conflict and make accusatory remarks are shameful.
