(CNN)Six people were killed Friday after a bridge washed away in Indiana, state officials said.

A bridge over Sanes Creek in Franklin County was destroyed after heavy storms led to high water in the region.

"We've had so much water in the last two days, some of these small creeks, they flash flood," said Officer Josh Thomas, a spokesman for the law enforcement division of the state Department of Natural Resources.

Very tragic event over the past few days in Indiana aside from the stories absolutely dominating the news cycle.

Floodwaters had swept off several vehicles off the bridge into the creek, he said.

If the bridge was washed away, how did the vehicles get swept off the bridge?
So the drivers ignored ages old warning not to drive thru flooded areas...
Tragic event... Typical CNN reporting... Forget the facts, get the clicks...

Someone in my area died the other day when he drove into a flooded area of roadway. I guess people just don't want to believe the warnings.  **nononono*

I just reread the article. I don't see what is wrong with  it. This is just politicizing the article and source. I saw the headlines, other sources were similar.

Perhaps There's a specific part of the article you object to, maybe It's because It's CNN but that hardly means everything they report on is wtong.

Other coverage had similar headlines, I will gladly post those if you wish.

I'm sure people of the great state of Indiana would just appreciate some mention of this very tragic event, not go nitpicking, that doesn't seem to honor the victims.

The accident was at 5:45 AM, so it was dark,  I've got to delve into the stories a bit to find out if the bridge was washed away while they were on it or if it was a visibility issue:

It really sounds like the bridge was washed away that night, maybe shortly before these people came to it and there were probably no signs, also, reading 4 of these stories fully, the bridge collapsing when they went over it doesn't seem totally out of the question.

AP via Washington Post, could be a wire service report by CNN instead of someone obsessed with whining about the sources.

6 bodies recovered after water sweeps cars from Indiana road

... The body of a 13-year-old boy was recovered Saturday in a southeastern Indiana creek, the last six people presumed to have drowned when two vehicles were swept off a roadway after torrential rainfall deluged the region’s hill country, authorities said.

Sounds like the victims were not aware the bridge was washed out.

Reporting is reporting and there's a good chance, some report out of the Midwest has diddly to do with anything in DC. Still awaiting the problem with the CNN report.

A picture is worth a thousand words:

So, the wash out was total, I can see how this presented a problem. Maybe the state can be sued, we see problems that can occur with flooding, I've been in them before. Wow, it looks like a part washed away.

@TomSea
You missed my point... the headline depicts victims but the facts, tragic as they are, show stupidity.
We have to hold the media accountable or we will never get the truth.

CNN's reporting even has a picture of the bridge, I'm not sure all did and also, when there is a video news report, a lot of times, I don't watch those. Again, time consuming and sometimes, broadband isn't all that great. So, CNN's reporting had some of the better reporting. Some articles may have been better but not all of them.
