President Trump is looking to pass a paid sick leave program to help counteract the negative effects of coronavirus, several Republican senators said.
"He made it very obvious he really supports those types of measures," Sen. Ron Johnson said Tuesday after a lunch meeting with the president, according to the Hill. "We will listen. We all recognize this is an extraordinary situation, and we may need to take extraordinary measures, and President Trump’s providing that leadership."
Sen. Mike Braun said Trump's proposal would be aimed at only small businesses. "I like the idea, but I don’t like it as a mandate, and, again, if it was aimed only at smaller businesses, I’d consider it," he said.
