Yes, and IMHO in the eyes of the DEMS who want a borderless society (i.e., in Clinton's eyes she wanted a borderless western hemisphere), no.  They may see it as a reason for globalization and a reason for open borders.  They will see it as a reason against American exceptionalism.  They now have a legitimate reason why Trump tariffs and his hardball stance against China didn't work. Never mind the fact that the U.S. has been taken advantage of by China and no one until now has stood up to them.  That backdrop will never be conveyed by the MSM and the American people who need the drugs to stay alive won't care.

It will take years for pharmaceutical companies to move their plants back to the U.S. -- time that we don't have.

Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has tested positive for coronavirus, it has been announced.

He awaits the results of a second test on Friday to confirm the diagnosis.

Bolsonaro dined with US President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on Saturday night, along with his press secretary, who was diagnosed with the disease following the trip.

Pictures and video show the Trump, Bolsonaro and his press secretary Fabio Wajngarten all in close proximity.

New government documents out of China claim to have found the earliest case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in a 55-year-old man from Hubei province.

The documents, which were seen by the South China Morning Post, show the man contracted the illness on Nov. 17, predating the World Health Organization's first confirmed case on Dec. 8 and suggesting the disease could have spread undetected for weeks before serious measures were taken to mitigate the outbreak.

2/2 CDC was caught on the spot. When did patient zero begin in US? How many people are infected? What are the names of the hospitals? It might be US army who brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Be transparent! Make public your data! US owe us an explanation!

There are many facilities in Puerto Rico sitting idle that produced the pharma products before being shipped off to China.  If it was fast tracked, they could be up and running in six months.

The problem is Congress. If Trump issues an executive order to pull all pharma out of China, Congress would interfere.  If he doesn't do something, the Democommies will condemn him. 

Frankly, I think Trump should issue an executive order to end all pharma being produced anywhere but the USA.  Same for any product required by DOD.  I was shocked when the Russians bid on the contract to make the newest transport planes/jets for the USA military.  Complete nonsense that!!!

Italy reports record 250 coronavirus deaths in one day

Italian officials said 250 people have died from the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, marking a record number of deaths from the illness within such a timespan.

The Italian Civil Protection Agency reported the increase Friday, which raised the country's death toll from coronavirus to 1,266 people, according to The Associated Press. The spike in cases has shifted the focus on the outbreak from China to Europe.

"More cases are now being reported every day [in Europe] than were being reported by China at the height of its epidemic," World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. He also called the reported 5,000 deaths worldwide a "tragic milestone."

"Do not let this fire burn," he said calling for social distancing. "Isolate the sick."

It just seems like common sense that people should not travel unless it is absolutely necessary.  And they shouldn't expect to get back unless they are quarantined first in the country they are visiting.  At the least tested before they get on a plane.  This is worldwide.  Even if a country only has a low number of cases it is sure to increase at a rapid pace.  You could go to a country where there is only,...say 30 cases and in 3 days to a week it could triple or worse.

Why don't they advise no business travel between countries?  We have skype.  Its a great tool when you can't get there.  But a travel ban that still allows citizens to travel between countries isn't going to be that effective.  1 person who is ill can infect many, many people.

Business can't afford to stall trade.  Business that requires travel will get phased out in time by skype or successors, but business travel only accounts for 12% of travel.  There is Cargo trade that requires travel, and then there is leisure travel which will remain in high demand after the pandemic ends.

When the President meets with infected people, but refuses to be tested or self quarantine for the benefit of others who are not infected, why should I absorb the cost and delay my vacation to Italy, and Spain?

China has just jumped the shark by threatening to impose pharmaceutical export controls that would plunge America into a a massive coronavirus crisis.

Via Fox News:

Now that the number of new people infected with the coronavirus in China is slowing down, the country’s Communist Party is ratcheting up threats against the West, with a particularly nasty warning about access to life-saving drugs aimed at the United States.

In an article in Xinhua, the state-run media agency that’s largely considered the mouthpiece of the party, Beijing bragged about its handling of COVID-19, a virus that originated in the city of Wuhan and has spread quickly around the world, killing nearly 5,000 people and infecting thousands more.

The article also claimed that China could impose pharmaceutical export controls which would plunge America into “the mighty sea of coronavirus.”

Spain set to announce lockdown as coronavirus cases spike; planes turned around midair

Spain is set to announce an Italian-style countrywide lockdown Saturday after a dramatic spike in coronavirus cases.

Ahead of the announcement, airplanes on their way to the Iberian Peninsula dramatically turned around midair.

Low-cost airline Jet2, which is based at nine airports in the United Kingdom, halted all fights with immediate effect to mainland Spain after the country saw cases rise by more than 1,500 to more than 5,700.

“In response to local measures introduced throughout Spain to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including the closure of bars, restaurants, shops, and activities including any water sports, we have taken the decision to cancel all flights to Mainland Spain, the Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands with immediate effect,” the airline said in a statement.
