Looks like that Israeli firm's experimental vaccine didn't make the list.

Keep in mind that China first identified what is now called Covid-19 to WHO a little over 7 weeks ago.

Since all these "vaccines" are supposedly the greater part of "a year away" yet, I would think that it would be more prudent to push to find an anti-viral solution that can treat the infection once a person has it.

That would fulfill a much more immediate need...

Several of the companies on the list are working on "treatment" instead of (or as well as) a vaccine. One treatment is at stage 3 of testing; IIRC, it's a drug already used for other viruses, so safety testing has already been done.

U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command has signed an arrangement with Gilead Sciences to provide the company’s investigational coronavirus drug to U.S. troops confirmed to have the COVID-19 virus.

Gilead’s medication, remdesivir, was approved for clinical research in February by the Food and Drug Administration. The medication, which initially was developed by the Foster City, California-based company to treat Ebola, has had some demonstrated success targeting coronaviruses, including Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, SARS.

The medicine, given intravenously, is currently being tested for safety and effectiveness in two separate clinical trials in China and one by the National Institute of Allergy and Infection Diseases. In the U.S. study, the first volunteer was an evacuee from the Diamond Princess cruise ship hospitalized with the illness at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

From what I've read - not a lot, admittedly - remdesivir was developed to treat Ebola, was not successful, but has shown some good results with corona-family viruses. So some of the safety testing has already been done, which is why it is farther along in testing than other experimental treatments.

Human trials for a potential vaccine to prevent COVID-19 could begin “within a few weeks” with a vaccine ready for public use within the next 12 to 18 months, a top U.S. health official said Thursday.

“We said ... that it would take two to three months to have it in the first human,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the House Oversight and Reform Committee on Thursday at a hearing on the nation’s preparedness for the outbreak.

“I think we’re going to do better than that,” he said. “I would hope within a few weeks we may be able to make an announcement to you all that we’ve given the first shot to the first person.”

The National Institutes of Health has been working with biotech company Moderna to develop a vaccine using the current strain of the coronavirus.
