She said it strikes her that “if Christ himself walked through these doors and said what he said thousands of years ago ― that we should love our neighbor and our enemy, that we should welcome the stranger, fight for the least of us, that it is easier ... for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into a kingdom of heaven ― he would be maligned as a radical and rejected from these doors.â€He would be rejected, but it wouldn't be by Christian conservatives. He would be rejected by the godless leftists.
Jesus was not a socialist.
Matt. 19:23 is a call to character not a call to envy the rich. Jesus never implied that accumulating wealth through peaceful commerce was in any way wrong.
Matt. 20:1-16 workers are paid differently and the business owner tells the complainers I have the right to do what I want with my own money. It is Jesus who is telling people this example and He is not condemning the business owner.
Matt. 25:14-30 the story of the servants with the talents. The man who generated the greatest return is rewarded.
Luke 10:29-37 the good samaritan. The good man helped the stranger because he wanted to he did not look to the govt. to do it for him.
Luke 12:13-15 Jesus is asked by a man for him to compel his brother to redistribute his brother's inheritance. Jesus tells him to guard against greed and envy.
Jesus would be rejected by the godless leftists because he never called for govt to forcefully redistribute wealth, or that govt should be the means by which we help people.
BTW, welcome to TBR
