CLAIM: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) seemingly blamed President Trump for the roughly 500,000 Americans who are living homeless today.

VERDICT: False. The overwhelming majority of the homeless population is actually concentrated in blue states and was a crisis l0ng before Trump was elected president. California, for example, is home to nearly half of the entire United States’ unsheltered homeless population.

“Five hundred thousand people tonight are sleeping out on the street, including 30,000 veterans,” Sanders said. “That is not an economy that is working for the American people. That is an economy that is working for the one percent.”

SF's homelessness problem has been around for decades. It's just grown steadily as SF kept subsidizing it.

Above all it is drug addiction/alcoholism.

Drugs make one mentally ill.

See on youtube "Seattle is Dying," where the cops state it is addiction.

Generally there are adequate "resources," but homeless don't want such, since it involves conditions, like curfew, drug tests, etc.

By the time they hit the streets, they have burned other bridges, like spouse, parents, friends, etc.

It used to be families, jails, prisons, kept them off the streets.

Now they get dumped io to our streets, parkks, beaches etc.

To expect Sanders to be accurate or truthful on any idea is wishful thinking.  This failed commune bum represents his state well because too many of them are life long potheads who long ago burned up the last brain cell.

Why the man idolizes Fidel Castro, and has visions of living up to his accomplishments.  Left to his own devices, he would do exactly what Castro did, including executions and imprisoning all that oppose him.  Sanders on his best day is an evil man who repeatedly lies to the American people day after day.  It took four years for him to finally admit he would increase taxes if he became president.

And the word hypocrite does not fully characterize the man that made a lifetime career of sponging off the government.

It is easier to be homeless in a specific area when certain conditions are met.

Nice climate. Sure beats sleeping under a bridge in -30 weather.

Subsidies: free food, free needles, available drugs, police who won't roust one for vagrancy, etc.

Some urban settings are more likely to have two things: Liberals who virtue signal by loading in subsidies, and nicer weather, like SF and LA, for two.

The combination of those is a winner for the homeless. That those concentrations occur in "Blue" cities is a result of policy as much as the weather.
