In this corner.... it could get pretty hairy tonight, don't you think?? All of these stories linked from Drudge Report, last one with Rahm Emanuel. When I was younger, I read a few of those "campaign" books about the various candidates ... so, yes, this is a real season.

(Bloomberg) -- Michael Bloomberg is trying for a do-over in Tuesday’s Democratic presidential debate, previewing that he’ll turn his focus to newly minted front-runner Bernie Sanders after a much-criticized debut at last week’s face-off.

Seven Democratic candidates will meet in Charleston, South Carolina, for a last encounter before that state’s primary on Saturday, and it would benefit Bloomberg if the rest of the field also sharpened their attacks against Sanders.

South Carolina’s primary is the last of the February preliminary rounds before the 14-state Super Tuesday contest on March 3, which includes huge delegate prizes of California and Texas, as well as the populous states of North Carolina and Virginia. Sanders is leading or tied for a top place in many of those states, and Bloomberg and former Vice President Joe Biden are in a fight for runner-up.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Bernie Sanders’ Democratic rivals prepared to unleash a new wave of attacks against the party’s presidential front-runner in a high-stakes debate Tuesday night, perhaps their final prime-time opportunity to change the direction of the 2020 nomination fight.

Almost all of the six other candidates set to debate in South Carolina went after Sanders in the hours leading up to the 8 p.m. EST affair.

Pete Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, highlighted Sanders’ call for a government-financed health care system as an example of his “polarization.” Former Vice President Joe Biden accused Sanders of trying to undermine President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection. And former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg assailed Sanders’ record on gun control.

--- Quote ---The Memo: Democratic rivals have seven days to stop Sanders
By Niall Stanage - 02/25/20 06:00 AM EST

Rival candidates have just a week to stop Sen. Bernie Sanders if they hope to prevent the Independent from Vermont from taking the party’s presidential nomination.

Sanders is the undisputed front-runner in the race after his thumping victory in Nevada’s caucuses on Saturday.

His current trajectory is set to carry him to at least a top-two finish in South Carolina’s primary Saturday. From there, he looks likely to roll through Super Tuesday on March 3, harvesting huge numbers of delegates from California and other large states.

CHICAGO (CBS) – Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel had a clear warning for Democrats: A primary victory for Bernie Sanders puts the whole future of the party at risk.

“His candidacy is built on a false premise, strategically and policy-wise,” Emanuel, who served in both Clinton and Obama administrations, said of the far left candidate on CBS This Morning.

Sanders, he said, is playing with political fire by dismissing moderate Democrats.

Will #CBS & #BET ask #Democrats2020 substantive questions or will they ask conveniently narrow & simplistic questions like #MSNBC & #Telemundo did in the last #Demdebate?

Bernie is usually an independent, right? I can see how I'd be upset with an outsider crashing the party.

I wrote about Sanders’s praise of Cuba *in June* of 2019. He didn’t just praise their “literacy programs,” he lauded their “value system”

Of course,  I find all of the Dem candidates too far out there, Bernie much worse? I don't know.

What if the big issue Americans want to hear discussed in tonight’s #DemocraticDebate is the #coronavirus? Which candidate is best prepared to address it? How might they disagree?

As usual,  the keyword I use isn't keyed into conservatism, so I don't do it well as the website owner. Still some interesting things.
