Bigger than Vindman: Trump scrubs 70 Obama holdovers from NSC

President Trump is making good on his promises to “drain the swamp” and cut Obama-era holdovers from his staffs, especially the critical and recently controversial National Security Council.

Officials confirmed that Trump and national security adviser Robert O’Brien have cut 70 positions inherited from former President Barack Obama, who had fattened the staff to 200.

Many were loaners from other agencies and have been sent back. Others left government work.

The NSC, which is the president’s personal staff, was rocked when a “whistleblower” leveled charges that led to Trump’s impeachment.

If Trump had made mass firings we would be witnessing the start of the second partisan impeachment in two months.

I think the president is probably following the good advice from his legal/political team.

It's late, but this was a mistake GWB never figured out and rectified - keeping Clintonian holdovers/operatives in places where they could sabotage and leak.

Bubba's holdovers, rules and staff, were a factor in letting 9/11 happen. Stovepiped intelligence kept the dots from being connected until after the fact. Either that, or the conspiracy theorists may be on to something.

Brainless noise from the predictable suspects.
Their R Party is the instrument that made our current bureaucratic behemoth inevitable.
Following Lincoln till Hoover, the R's were politically ascendant for some 70 years; controlling
the WH and Congress which also gave them control of the Courts through Judicial appointment.
Rejecting the primacy of States Rights, they advanced strong centralized government.
Consequently, many Departments were created which expanded year after year.
Then FDR arrived in 1932 and he merely increased the tempo of expansion as did his successors.
As a result, we now have a permanent DC bureaucracy in the millions, having loyalty
to neither party nor potus; only to their narrow self-interest and fat wallet.
Now Trump erases 70 holdovers and his Fan Club goes bonkers w/glee insisting its a
game changer. Why sure it is, ain't it ???
Shutting down entire Dept's and moving many out of DC might be the 'start of a game changer.'
Consider, why is the Dept of Agriculture in DC, rather than in small satellites across the Farm Belt?
