Carter was higher than anybody.

Not a surprise,  in times of crisis, regardless of Party people rally around the President.    Bush's approval was 91% during the First Gulf War.

But it fades quickly.

When he said "It'll be low-key" I'm going ... "here comes a Trump Classic!".

I really liked it.  The best I've heard, ever.  It was a slow, precise evisceration of the Democrat Left and their destructive and failed ideology.  The two House jihadists walking out mid-speech was emblematic of where that dismal group of venal thieves and scoundrels are at right now.  Nancy was chewing her dentures again.  These idiots wouldn't stand up and clap for a 100 year old Tuskegee Airman.

He'll be acquitted before the Iowa DNC figures out their caucus results.

It would have been the same speech, whether it was before or after acquittal.   But of course the media expected Trump to take a "Victory Lap".

He was simply The President, tonight.  And that's all he had to be.

I agree.  He has a huge respect for the Office and his duty.

I think he looks at Twitter as a wholly different milieu:  The place he can confront the ugly, partisan MSM and be the Queens "dozens" smart-arse he is.

Some folks have those genetics!   happy77    You can't teach that!

George Burns had the great line with Johnny Carson when he was asked at age 95 or so about smoking cigars all his life:  "Johnny, four doctors have told me to quit smoking.   Three are dead, and one is not feeling so good."

Wasnt a fan of Trump this time in 2016, and many of you around then know that. But I will crawl on broken glass to vote for him in 2020.  Hope the others that supported others candidates  4 years ago  will join me.

I think I may have to watch the alphabet media today, just to see how they spin Trump’s address for their mindless, soulless, anti American minions who regularly tune in to watch Chrissy, Lèmon, Blitzed, Mad Cow, Joyless Read and the rest of the clowns on those failing networks.

I wasn't a fan either and yes I WILL join you in 2020 to vote for him.  The insanity and hatred of the left was on full display last night and Nancy ripping up the speech at the end was very childish.  Regardless if you like or dislike this president where was their respect for the office of the presidency? The have disrespected the office of the presidency, disrespected this country and ultimately they have disrespected the will of 'We the People'.  How dare they!

OK, but I still don't get it.  I feel sorry for his diagnosis.

Rush Limbaugh was awarded the Medal of Freedom Award, the highest honor a civilian can receive in the U.S. It is awarded by the President of the United States -- last night the First Lady presented it to him.  Limbaugh made his contribution to this country by being one of the best journalist in history with accuracy in reporting. He was instrumental in talk radio as we know it today.  He is a huge part of the conservative movement, a patriot and above all else a defender of the Constitution through his broadcasts and numerous books; including a series of books for children 'Rush Revere'.  I gave books to my grandson - they are story books written about time travel to various points in the factual history of our country.

In addition to that he has raised millions for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with his annual 'cure-a-thons'.  He has raised approximately $47milllion to help find a cure.

I was very pleased to see him receive this medal.  He is very deserving of this great honor.

Here's the head of the WVGOP's take on the SOTU:
Quote
Last Night, President Donald J. Trump delivered his third State of the Union Address in front of a Joint Session of Congress.

President Trump gave one of the best speeches of his Presidency. Here are some of the highlights:

"Socialism destroys nations. But always remember: Freedom unifies the soul."

"That is why I am also calling upon members of Congress here tonight to pass legislation finally banning the late-term abortion of babies. Whether we are Republican, Democrat, or Independent, surely we must all agree that every human life is a sacred gift from God."

"One hundred thirty-two lawmakers in this room have endorsed legislation to impose a socialist takeover of our health care system, wiping out the private health insurance plans of 180 million very happy Americans. To those watching at home tonight, I want you to know: We will never let socialism destroy American health care."

"In America, we don't punish prayer. We don't tear down crosses. We don't ban symbols of faith. We don't muzzle preachers and pastors. In America, we celebrate faith. We cherish religion. We lift our voices in prayer, and we raise our sights to the glory of God."

"My administration is also defending religious liberty, and that includes the constitutional right to pray in public schools."

"Just as we believe in the First Amendment, we also believe in another constitutional right that is under siege all across our country. So long as I am president, I will always protect your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms."

"My administration is also strongly defending our national security and combating radical Islamic terrorism."

"This is the home of Thomas Edison and Teddy Roosevelt, of many great generals, including Washington, Pershing, Patton, and MacArthur. This is the home of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, the Wright brothers, Neil Armstrong, and so many more. This is the country where children learn names like Wyatt Earp, Davy Crockett, and Annie Oakley. This is the place where the pilgrims landed at Plymouth and where Texas patriots made their last stand at the Alamo."

Finally, President Trump reminded us:   "This nation is our canvas, and this country is our masterpiece. We look at tomorrow and see unlimited frontiers just waiting to be explored. Our brightest discoveries are not yet known. Our most thrilling stories are not yet told. Our grandest journeys are not yet made. The American age, the American epic, the American adventure has only just begun. Our spirit is still young. The sun is still rising. God's grace is still shining. And my fellow Americans, the best is yet to come."

Simply Put: President Trump delivered. He's been delivering for you and for West Virginia since his historic election in 2016.

Democrats tonight sat and made faces, they groaned and jeered at America's success.  But, it wasn't until the very end of the President's speech when they revealed what they really think of you, your values, America's success and this great American comeback: [photo of Pelosi tearing up the speech]

Pelosi and her radical socialist Democrats are fighting President Trump and his policies. We must stop them.

Supporting President Trump, Vice President Pence and their Make America Great Again agenda is the only way to keep the America we love and stop these socialists in their tracks.

It has always been Rush against the lying media and with the election of Donald Trump, Rush won.

People don't realize that there are very few journalists actually reporting what is really going on as the MSM reports their opinions to impose their viewpoints and push their liberal candidates' agenda and right now that agenda is socialism.

Terrific piece.  I felt an optimism from this SOTU address unlike anything going back to Ronald Reagan.  Meanwhile, there in plain view, was the Left.

:yowsa: @Lando Lincoln They fully exposed themselves before millions last night and I have NO doubt that they will pay a heavy price for that REAL soon.

Everyone anticipated this to be a low-key address to Congress. Trump turned it into a celebration of America, what’s right with America and what is possible for the future of America.

America. You can’t say the idea AMERICA enough times.

@mountaineer

That, and the defense of the Second Amendment were two of my favorites because the camera happened to be covering the witches in white as well as slime like Schulmer,Nadler, and Schiff, and you could see the jaws lock. Both really,REALLY pissed them off.

Frankly,I was hoping for strokes on live tv last night, but even without them I got to do a little "happy dance" several times,

Best damn speech I EVER heard! The man had the stones to get behind a microphone and before cameras and state universal truths that NEEDED to be said, but that no actual politician would ever dare say in public.

Ok,that one was a mistake. Last time I checked,Islam was considered to be a religion for some odd reason, and you can't say things like that and then keep Muslims from invading us via immigration.

Please point to the sentence (heck I'll settle for sentence fragment) where the President suggests he wants to force kids to pray?  I'll wait....
