Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg has been nominated for the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize by two Swedish lawmakers, a report said on Monday.

Jens Holm and Hakan Svenneling, members of Sweden’s Left Party, said the 17-year-old Thunberg “has worked hard to make politicians open their eyes to the climate crisis.”

Her work toward “reducing our emissions and complying with the Paris Agreement is therefore also an act of making peace,” they said.

The Paris accord, from which President Trump withdrew in June 2017, seeks to combat the rise in global temperatures by reducing emissions.

Oh, why not?  They gave the prize to Obama and he didn't do anything either.

Like the Oscars, Emmys, Tonys and Grammys.  Doesn't matter if you do anything to deserve it, so long as you espouse the right social justice BS.

Obama got awarded a Peace Prize after being in office for some 7 months, long before he could accomplish much of anything good or bad. Thunberg has probably accomplished as much or more as had Obama.

One could see Carter and Arafat getting the prize because of the supposed effort at peace in the Middle East (which as expected, didn't hold up).  But Obama, if anything, caused more dissention, turmoil and hostility through his blatant racism.  And this kid Greta -- how does perpetrating the climate change hoax advance the cause of peace?

The Nobel Peace Prize has the same value as a participation trophy.  And awarding it to Obama and this Greta kid denigrates the other Nobels  -- the sciences or example.  Generally speaking, the winners  of, say, the prize in medicine or physics, worked hard to advance science to benefit mankind.   Then there is the Peace Prize which, it seems, anyone belonging to the correct race or gender or who espouses the correct propaganda can get.  The medicine and physics recipients should be unhappy that they had to work for their prizes while people like Obama and Greta can seemingly, for the right amount of money and influence, just get the prize for no real reason at all.

Very true.  I remember as a kid the predictions of the next ice age.  Then I was told the earth was getting warmer and we are all going to burn up.  Now these alarmists don't know what's going to happen, so they call any weather abnormality "climate change."   But still...WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!! *****rollingeyes*****

I'm still here at age 67.  Most likely heart disease will kill me, not changes in the weather.

Yes. The Nobel prize, and particularly the Nobel Peace Prize have become a farce - Similar in kind to being knighted by the Queen of England. It used to mean something - A great honor... It is no more.
