One State Just Passed A Law To Castrate Child Sex Offenders

Alabama has made a decision to stand strong against convicted child molesters. Because most Americans agree that criminals who steal the innocence of children are among the worst of the worst, Alabama has decided to pass a chemical castration bill that would forever change any person convicted of an abhorrent sex crime against a child under the age of thirteen, which is a measure approved by most people across the state.

State Representative Steve Hurst, a Republican, introduced the bill. It was passed by the state legislature and was recently signed into law by Governor Kay Ivey. Because the state wants to make it abundantly clear that child molesters are not welcome, the law now requires that any child sex offenders over the age of 21 will be chemically castrated before they leave prison and entered society again.

Stop sex offenses?  Does the death penalty stop murder?  No, but if put to death people won't do it again just like being castrated will make them not do it again. 22222frying pan

Being castrated won't stop someone from raping someone with a broomstick, and there's historic proof of that.

I've read studies that castration does not prevent sexual urges or predatory behavior.
It simply makes it impossible for the pervert to ever satisfy those urges.
Which is a huge punishment in itself.

This is chemical castration, not physical castration.  And there is pretty good data showing that it reduces sexual crimes recidivism.  It not only affects purely sexual urges, but also violetn fantasies, etc..

There are some side effects, and it only works as long as the drug regimen continues.  So it's not a "one and done' thing.
