Adam Schiff has warned about the prospect of retaliation & retribution against the "whistleblower" if that individual testified before Congress.

Tonight he can't think of a single whistleblower who has faced retaliation.

Shouldn't he have examples before making his prediction?

Schiff, who steadfastly denied GOP any witnesses of their own when he controlled proceedings in House, says it would be damaging precedent for the Senate to acquit based only on the case he brought forth, without helping save their failed investigation by calling add'l witnesses.

Question from Murkowski notes the contradiction between Amb. Sondland, Sen. Johnson, and John Bolton on the 'quid pro quo' point: "This dispute about material facts weighs in favor of calling additional witnesses with direct knowledge. Why should this body not call Amb. Bolton?"

I can't imagine a trial when there is a witness who was there and knows what happened and one side can prevent him from testifying.

Lot's of things going on that I "can't imagine." But here we are.

I am going to hazard a SWAG here...Lamar! will be a No and his reasoning will be pragmatic. i.e. that conviction will not happen regardless of what Bolton would testify and Lamar! has some legislation he wants acted upon.

I'm sure it happens all the time. Witnesses get impeached, so nobody wants to hear what they have to say.

Bolton doesn't have anything new to add, the leak from his book happened at the exact moment the Rats needed it to demand his testimony. An obvious dirty trick, fresh from the Kavanaugh hearings.

I'll agree @don-o but the real reason is that the old codgers in the Senate can't hang with the kind of schedule they've endured the last couple of weeks. (I'll bet you there is already a lot of Calf-rope yelling going on behind the scenes.)

If Trump is acquitted, he can call on foreign govts tomorrow to investigate every Democrat in our nation (and do so in secret). He can ask DOJ to target every Democrat as well, too. And his legal argument,voiced by his lawyer,is that there is nothing wrong with this. Buyer beware

If those rats were credibly suspected to be engaged in nepotism and other self enrichment schemes in those foreign countries, yes. What would be wrong with that?

Itâ€™s ironic as all hell that Neal is so worried about something happening in theory to rats that has actually happened to Trump for the past three years.

Collins and Romney will vote for more witnesses and Murkowski and Alexander are unsure, a tie vote means no witnesses, do I have that right? We know Murkowski is an attention whore/drama queen but what's with Alexander, does he have a 'beef' with Trump and feels safe with his retirement?
