CNN's Don Lemon and guests mock Trump supporters as uneducated and illiterate
by Mike Brest
 | January 28, 2020 07:59 AM

CNN's Don Lemon and two guests on his show are facing backlash after they mocked President Trump's supporters and depicted them as uneducated.

Lemon was joined by New York Times columnist and CNN contributor Wajahat Ali and ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson during his show Saturday night to discuss the recent feud between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and NPR. Following an interview last week, Pompeo screamed at NPR reporter Mary Louise Kelly and demanded she locate Ukraine, the topic of the initial disagreement, on an unlabeled map.

Wilson pivoted the conversation to attack Trump supporters, claiming they wouldn't be able to identify Ukraine.

"[Pompeo] also knows deep within his heart that Donald Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter 'U' and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it," he stated, eliciting a laugh from Lemon. "He knows that this is, you know, an administration defined by ignorance of the world. And so that's partly him playing to the base and playing to their audience. You know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump."

This graduate student will refrain from taking a childish shot at Don Lemon for not being smart enough to know what to do with his member.

It sure worked well when HilLIARy used the strategy ... worked well for the country.

This worked so well for Hillary, calling Trump supporters "deplorables."  More, please.

  • WE are NOT ok!
I am thankful that I wasn't somewhere at the time where CNN was on.  I would have come absolutely unglued.  How dare he ridicule the millions that elected Donald Trump -- I didn't see them laughing much when Hillary LOST.  I am glad that CNN's ratings are tanking; the channel has turned into nothing more than a bunch of liberal clowns reporting their opinions; they are NOT journalists.  The sad thing is they don't care.  Liberals dominate and control the media which is exactly why I don't watch television.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Some twitter commentary:

If Donald Trump wins re-election this year, I’ll remember this brief CNN segment late one Saturday night in January as the perfect encapsulation for why it happened.

About 50% of the Democrat voters have poor  scholastic achievement. Large numbers of  residents of the big cities where many Dem voters dwell are functionally illiterate.  I wouldn't be talking about dumb voters if I were Lemon and the other clown.

Living in the south I have learned that particular phrase has 2 diametrically opposed meanings. One shows genuine concern for a person's well being. The other not so much. Working on the County fair board for the last 3 years sometimes tempers flare. When they do, we look the other person in the eye and dripping as much sarcasm as we can muster we say "Why bless your heart". This lets them know that they have gone that one step to far.

The translation of the phrase, when used sarcastically, that I'd heard was, "You idiot."

Well....when I heard the phrase the hidden meaning was a little...different. But I can't post it. I'll just say that it begins with F and ends with U.

There is a good joke about it...that I also won't post.

That's interesting.  I'm in Ohio, and a few years ago I was getting in a political debate online with some lefties on a sports forum.  When one of them got really out of line/dumb, I decided to just respond with "Have a Blessed Day!".  No idea how I came up with it other than I as ticked, but didn't want to seem to lose my cool.  Though that perhaps being overly nice was the way to go, then that phrase popped into my read.   I meant it in exactly that "FU" sense.

The reaction was pretty funny.  They initially couldn't figure out what I meant by that, and one guy who was half-black said "the only time I've ever heard that is from older black women."  After a few back and forths, one of them figured out "hey, I think it means FU."

It has now caught on among conservatives on that site as a way of saying exactly that.  And here I thought I'd invented it....
