Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wondered why there were "almost no police officers" at a Second Amendment rally in Virginia that saw a heavy police presence.

Thousands of gun rights advocates demonstrated in Richmond, Virginia, on Monday in protest of a series of gun control bills proposed by Democrats. While speaking the same day at Blackout for Human Rights: MLK Now 2020 in Harlem's Riverside Church, the New York Democrat criticized the rally.

"There's this gun rights protest happening down in Richmond," she began as the event's host said, "On MLK day!"

"On MLK day!" Ocasio-Cortez said before contrasting the Richmond rally with the Baltimore, Maryland, riots following the 2015 death of Freddie Gray while he was in police custody.

"But here's the image that has struck with me the most about that. When we go out and march for the dignity and the recognition of the lives of people like Freddie Gray and Eric Garner, the whole place is surrounded by police in riot gear without a gun in sight. And here are all of these people flying Confederate flags, with semi-automatic weapons, and there's almost no police officers at that protest," she said.

She added, "Who or what are our institutions protecting from whom? That image conveys it all."

I suspect the police were in plain clothes, infiltrating the crowd. Much to ~~their~~ Ralph Northam's chagrin, nothing happened.

Did it ever occur to AOC that those of us who support the Bill of Rights are by definition 'Law abiding'?

What AOC was actually complaining about is that the police didn't violently shut down the rally. She equated this peaceful rally with the violent riots in Baltimore. I suspect pictures from the rally would show ample uniformed police presence, but AOC doesn't care about such facts.

Funny stuff. Reminds me of a story I read years ago about some KKK rally somewhere.
An undercover FBI agent was discovered during the proceedings.
Once the Klan members attempted to 'take care of it', other undercover agents intervened.
After everything broke down into chaos, they discovered that 3/4 of the people there were FBI agents.
I seem to remember a movie that did a play on this event, because it was so funny.

AOC said that it should be illegal for the 'little people' to criticize or insult members of Congress.
AOC is not an Authoritarian Socialist for show. She and her squad really believe it.
If they could turn America into a second U.S.S.R. or an Iranian Police State, they would do it in a heartbeat.
Their vision of utopia is armed soldiers in the streets enforcing their edicts. "Where are your papers!"
They view themselves not as the laughable idea of 'public servants'.
They see themselves as Kings and Queens, rulers of the masses by State force if necessary.

. I could have linked more videos where police were visible in crowd shots or in the background of street or group scenes. AOC lied, because she just wanted the police to smash ralliers' heads and the police were too professional.

Here is the beauty of her nonsense.

She gave no credit whatsoever to a LEO presence for the peaceful conduct of the rally.

That tends to strip all the Governor's preparations of any credit whatsoever. He can't claim it unless he refutes her.

To AOC's brain-surrogate, Richmond PD not cracking peaceful ralliers heads the way Baltimore PD lit into rioters and looters was due to racism, not because the ralliers were peaceful and law-abiding. AOC wanted ralliers' blood to flow and heads cracked!

I saw rooftop snipers as well in the coverage. AOC beyond stupid and bordering on treacherous.
