Pelosi: Trump can postpone State of the Union amid impeachment trial
by Susan Ferrechio

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said President Trump could postpone his Feb. 4 State of the Union address until after his Senate impeachment trial.

“That’s up to the president,” Pelosi, a California Democrat, told reporters Thursday.

Some lawmakers have suggested Trump should reschedule his annual address to a joint session of Congress, which is now poised to take place amid an impeachment trial. The speaker of the House invites the president and traditionally sets the date. Pelosi invited Trump back in December.

The Senate will begin a trial on Jan. 21 to determine whether to remove the president from office. Lawmakers will consider two House-passed articles of impeachment charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

No way should he delay the State of the Union!!  She has just given Trump a perfect bully pulpit from which to destroy democrats by pointing out their obstruction of everything, defending terrorists ahead of Americans, open borders, etc., etc. :yowsa:

I hope he doesn't postpone it.  Much more fun to read them the riot act while they have to sit there and take it.  If we're really lucky, there will be a walkout or something.

Give the address. Trump's record of achievement over the past year will make a nice contrast to the rat's.

Bill Clinton delivered a SOTU speech on schedule in 1999, IIRC.  Pelosi could have delayed the invitation, so why didn't she?
