CNN Settles Lawsuit Brought by Covington Catholic Student Nicholas Sandmann

CNN agreed Tuesday to settle a lawsuit brought by Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann.

Sandmann sought $275 million from CNN over their coverage of the confrontation he and his classmates had with an elderly Native American man while visiting Washington, D.C. on a school trip in January of last year. The amount of the settlement was not made public during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Covington on Tuesday, according to a local Fox affiliate...

I wonder what the terms are?  Sandmann's attorneys had been pushing for a trial, so what changed?

Get the feeling they probable made enough to pay the lawyers off and continue to sue the others like Washington Post...

It might be more $$ than just that. And it sets up a potential domino effect of others settling. IMO, every $ drained from outfits like CNN and the WashPost is a $ that won't be used to harm the US.

Good points.  A standard condition of settlements is, they never say for how much.  :shrug:

COVINGTON, Ky. (FOX19) - CNN agreed Tuesday to settle a lawsuit with Covington Catholic student Nick Sandmann.

The amount of the settlement was not made public during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Covington, Kentucky.

Sandmann’s lawsuit sought $800 million from CNN, the Washington Post and NBC Universal.

Trial dates are still not set for Sandmann’s lawsuit against NBC Universal and the Washington Post.

CNN has agreed to settle a multimillion-dollar defamation suit filed by Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann over the network’s depiction of his 2019 encounter with Native American activists.

The network is one of three news outlets named by the 16-year-old Kentucky student in a lawsuit seeking a combined $800 million in damages over what Sandmann claims was an unfair — and damaging — depiction of his encounter in Washington, DC, last January.

It is not known how much CNN is paying to settle the case, according to a report by Fox19 Now.
