White House sends Congress formal notification of Soleimani strike

The White House has formally notified Congress of the U.S. strike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, according to a Saturday statement from Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) office.

The 1973 War Powers Act requires the president to notify Congress of the "circumstances necessitating the introduction of United States Armed Forces" within 48 hours.

The Speaker reacted to the notification saying that the entirety of the of the information conveyed was classified and that she believes it "raises more questions than it answers."

That this is classified tells me that Congress is being given the FULL truth.

It may be that Trump is setting her up knowing she wants desperately to take the information and beat Trump about the head and shoulders with it but now she cannot because it is classified.He is just waiting for her to start broadcasting classified information..... pretty smart....

Actually, I'll bet it isn't.  The Administration rightly doesn't trust Pelosi, and won't give her the chance to expose classified materials that could hurt U.S. intelligence efforts and/or assets.  So they were likely provided with some rather general confidential or secret level info, but not the juiciest stuff.

I think this is the first time that both Trump and McConnell own the deck and they have pelosi in a box because she has over played the hand that AOC and company gave her.Trump is going to let pelosi twist in the wind... it should be entertaining...

Trump needs to be setting leak-traps for Congressional Dems as a matter of course. Give them partial information, as you suggested, or innocuous stuff such as privately giving a Trump itinerary with one false stop so as to expose a leaker when protesters show up at the false stop. Make Congressional Dems fear that every communication from Trump has snares to catch/expose leakers. IOW, turn the Dems' leaking game against them.
