IMHO,  the more proper headline from Borderland Beat: "Texas man refuses carjackers demand and loses his life on Reynosa International Bridge"

Man Killed on Reynosa Int'l Bridge Believed to be U.S. Citizen

REYNOSA, TAMAULIPAS – A man believed to be a U.S. citizen on the bridge heading back from Reynosa was killed Monday evening on the Mexican side.

Mexico's federal attorney office confirmed the homicide happened around 6:30 p.m. on the McAllen-Hidalgo International Bridge as the man waited to cross into Hidalgo, Texas. It happened in the part of the road that curves into the entrance to the bridge.

This is about as bad as it gets, on the bridge itself or very nearby per article..

He was even an "oral surgeon" per borderland beat:

The one in the middle.

Someone posted on twitter about a month ago about how they crossed the border but soon gave a U-turn because some crooks put up aa roadblock and I think he drove right back to the border into Texas. It really shows how lawless the place is that people would pull this stuff, it's not uncommon.
