Owner of Danvers store calls out DA Rachael Rollins’ shoplifting policy after thousands in coats stolen

Quote
With nearly tens of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise stolen from his clothing store over the past month, Alan Gibeley said that prosecutors who go easy on shoplifters — such as Suffolk District Attorney Rachael Rollins — are threatening his business and putting the well-being of his employees at risk.

“The easier shoplifting is, the more people there’ll be trying to do it, and that’s what we’re faced with right now,” said Gibeley, owner of Giblees Menswear & Tuxedos in Danvers. “These people really need to be prosecuted to the fullest to stop it from happening again. If they get off, they’re just going to do it again.”

Gibeley’s shop is in Essex County, but the five shoplifters charged with targeting his shop came from Boston, where he believes Rollins’ no-prosecute list is sending a bad message.
...
It was the third time in the past two weeks that his store was hit by shoplifters, according to the police report. Gibeley said he lost around $40,000 worth of coats in the previous two shoplifting incidents and would have lost another $14,000 had the suspects had gotten away with all 15 coats Thursday.
...
Since Rollins was elected last year, she has made headlines for vowing not to prosecute people in Boston who commit 15 different “minor” crimes, including shoplifting.

Gibeley said the idea of allowing adult shoplifters to get away with stealing his products without punishment is disrespectful to local businesses and harmful to the economy.

I understand thieves in CA are casing stores with calculators in order to make sure that when they come back to nick the goods their haul does not exceed the $950.00 bottom the authorities have set for prosecution.

Property crime is out of control in SF, thanks to that :sarc: genius :sarc: proposition (which I voted against) and SF DAs' making property crime a low priority (much of it committed by the Sacred Homeless).

I think multiple jurisdictions in multiple states are making this same mistake of giving property crime low or no priority.

Yes,but it is necessary to create a revolution.

Has there EVER been a country that has gone Communist without a revolution?
Anyone who isn't paranoid in 2021 just isn't thinking clearly!
