Hell,this goober actually slapped the hand of a woman reaching out to touch him as he passed by her yesterday.
@sneakypete

You did not watch the film.  He had turned around and she grabbed his arm from the back, and jerked him toward her, almost causing him to lose his balance and fall.  She would not let go, and he slapped her hand to free himself.  Later, standing from the balcony of the building, he apologized.  For him to be that close to people, is a security risk but he chose to be near them.  He may not be permitted to be that close again.

I didn't see it that way at all, and I watched the video. While he certainly may have been startled when the woman grabbed him - and who wouldn't be, especially when one pope already has been shot? - his reaction appeared to be pure anger, not just surprise.

She seemed to be overcome with emotion over being so close to the leader of her church and she just wanted to touch him. He didn't react like a person merely surprised by being grabbed, he reacted almost violently.

As noted, I understand that people in his position have to be on their guard all the time. There are a lot of wackos out there.

Well if that is the case he needs to learn how to STFU.

Agree.  This is for others below, NOT YOU!   888high58888

The communist, pedo pope. He is wanting CHRIS-LAM..already in Africa for many years. He is part of the NWO. In Turkey, he BOWED down TO MECCA & PRAYED WITH IMAN. HE ALSO KISSED THE KORAN.  He broke first 2 commandments.  I don't see him as Christian at all. I was born, raised in Catholic religion, so no attacks, on what I don't know'. And 6 years of Catholic school. Look at the plan. Already going on in Virginia with gun confiscation, TODAY!  People don't want to believe it. DISARMAMENT BY UN AND RE-EDUCATION CAMPS FOR AMERICANS.  The elderly will be, removed. & this with disability. Thanks all LEFTS and N.T.'S.  President isn't PURE enough for them, how will they like the CAMPS?

I didn't watch the video. But if he chose to be within reach, then why should he be surprised when someone reached out?

@bigheadfred

I am not a big fan of Popes,but I have seen them going out to shake hands and touch and be touched by the True Believers on teebee news reports all my life. I have never seen one slap anyone's hand before.

As long as the leaders of the Roman Catholic church protect the men that sexually assault young children, they are all evil and dangerous men.  I have seen nothing from the Vatican that indicates they recognize the problem they continue to protect and hide.

And it is not just the child abuse.  A good friend of mine, her son was married, and his wife had an affair with a parish priest, and the church spent hundreds of thousands of dollars for her legal fees when she divorced her husband.  The priest was transferred to run another church in another state.  The priest destroyed a family, and remained in the church's good graces.

Just plain evil to me, all of them.

But criticizing Francis for saying not to evangelize at at is to criticize him for something he did not say.

Thank you PeteS

Live the example of Christ. Build hospitals. Build schools.
And if anyone approaches you to ask why you do it, then go for it.

I disagree with the Pope that this is the only way to gain new believers, but it might be the best way.
I've seen born again Christians reach out to those with drug/alcohol/promiscuity problems and win solid converts who love Jesus deeply.
I've seen born again Christians reach out to apathetic Catholics and win converts that are full of hate for the Catholic church.
