An Elementary School principal in Nebraska, who is probably related to the Grinch, was placed on administrative leave after she decided to ban Santa, Christmas donation, and candy canes. Her reason behind banning the delicious holiday candy? She believed the shape of the candy cane, which makes a “J”, historically represents Jesus, with the red color representing the blood of Christ and the white as a symbol of his resurrection.

Jennifer Sinclair, the new principal of Manchester Elementary in Elkhorn Nebraska, sent a directive to staff to ban all certain religious Christmas decorations in the classroom. The list included green and red items (Christmas colors), Christmas music, Christmas tree, reindeer, Christmas videos, elf on the shelve, and all Christmas gifts.

...Legend has it that in 1670, the cane shaped candy became historical when a choirmaster at the Cologne Cathedral in Germany bent the sugar-sticks into canes to appear as shepherd's hooks. The all-white candy canes were given out to children who attended the ceremonies. This became a popular tradition, and eventually the practice during church ceremonies which spread all over Europe and America....

Speaking as an agnostic,this kinda gives me brain freeze. WTH is wrong with these people? Yeah,Christmas is a religious holiday TO THOSE WHO ARE CHRISTIANS,but it is just a very nice family holiday to those who aren't. AFAIK,there are no laws REQUIRING anyone to attend religious services on Christmas day,and AFAIK,everybody gets the same holiday days from work,regardless of their religious beliefs or lack of religious beliefs. NO DISCRIMINATION against non-Christians. None. Not even attempts to shame them for not believing.

You have to really love getting pissed off if being pissed because someone else is happy is the best you can come up with. Either that,or you are an attention whore,and will say and do anything to attract attention to yourself.

Such a shame that a country that was founded upon Christian principles have people that deny JESUS.

For those of us who view Christmas as a date chosen to celebrate the birth of Our Saviour, it's a religious holiday.
For the merchants, it's a chance to dump the inventory they couldn't dump on Black Friday...
For everyone else, it's optional, but the exchange of presents, holiday time or time off, festivities and suchlike are a nice deal.

Where do these principals get this authority?
We have a principal that has decided no one is allowed to bring their dog onto school property, BUT, she has to have her support dog with her 24 hours a day..... If she is so unstable that she has to have a constant support dog, why is she around our kids?
