Anti-Trump ‘Republican’ Group to Run Pro-Impeachment Ads in Target States
Eric Lendrum
- December 25th, 2019

An ostensibly Republican group is running a variety of ads in targeted states demanding that several White House officials testify in the Senate impeachment trial, according to The Hill.

Republicans for the Rule of Law, led by notorious anti-Trump activist Bill Kristol, is running ads ranging from billboards to television commercials, in four different states. The ads are targeting constituents of four Republican senators who are known for their anti-Trump stances: Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), and Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.).

The ads call for former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and former National Security Advisor John Bolton to be forced to testify before the Senate in the ongoing impeachment against President Trump.

Bill Kristol has arguably been the leading anti-Trumper from a supposedly conservative standpoint, having vigorously opposed President Trump’s campaign in 2016 and bankrolling the independent candidate Evan MacMullin. His anti-Trump stance eventually led to the shutdown of his longtime magazine, The Weekly Standard, and Kristol has struggled to maintain relevance ever since.

I fully agree.  I want them all to testify and why wouldn't they unless they have something to hide?

Bill Kristol, his father, and maybe even his grandfather are freaking Communists.

That is NOT the same thing as being "conservative" unless you live in China,Cuba,Venzuela,or one of the other remaining "Workers Paradises."

This source sounds like a crank.  Why is"Republican" in quotes? I think Mr. Kristol, at least, is a registered Republican.  Or is this guy confusing Republican with conservative?

And why is Mr. Kristol described as "notorious?"  Because he opposes Trump?  Next this guy will be accusing anyone opposed to Trump as an "enemy of the state" or some other perjorative.

I want Uncle Joe and Hunter to testify.  Why shouldn't they?  If they don't, then they must be hiding something.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The Congress and Executive branches are coequal branches of government.  The House of Representatives cannot demand anything it wants from the White House.  Executive Privilege is not about innocence or guilt, it is about precedent. The Supreme Court has consistently held firm that a President has both a right to and a need for confidentiality with his advisors and staff to secure unvarnished opinions from them.  If Pelosi wanted to know if it could be waived in this case, she should have taken her claim to court.

As for transparency and cooperation, the President not only released the transcript of the call with Zelensky (an unprecedented act), since his inauguration the Trump White House "has provided more than 20,000 pages of materials, and the campaign has provided more than 1.4 million pages, more than 20 White House personnel have given interviews, including eight from the White House counsel's office. Seventeen campaign employees plus 11 additional individuals.". [https://www.npr.org/2018/01/25/580637953/white-house-touts-unprecedented-cooperation-amid-mueller-interview-talks]

At what point do you think impeachment in search of a crime should end?

Yet the eight witnesses the Republicans asked for were all denied by Rep. Schiff: including House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, the anonymous whistleblower and anyone the whistleblower relied on to prepare the complaint alleging Trump solicited election interference from Ukraine.

What the do you think the democrats are hiding?

I want to know what crime is Trump being accused of.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

From Memoirs of a Trotskyist by Irving Kristol

I was graduated from City College in the spring of 194O, and the honor I most prized was the fact that I was a member in good standing of the Young People's Socialist League (Fourth International). This organization was commonly; and correctly, designated as Trotskyist  .  .  .

[Irving]Kristol was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of non-observant Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, Bessie (Mailman) and Joseph Kristol.[5][6] He received his B.A. from the City College of New York in 1940, where he majored in history and was part of a small but vocal Trotskyist anti-Soviet group who eventually became The New York Intellectuals. It was at these meetings that Kristol met historian Gertrude Himmelfarb, whom he later married in 1942. They had two children, Elizabeth Nelson and Bill Kristol.[7] During World War II, he served in Europe in the 12th Armored Division as a combat infantryman.[8]

Kristol was affiliated with the Congress for Cultural Freedom.

Nowhere is anything saying Bill Kristol is a communist.  I believe his father made a turn after the war.

The elder Kristol made no secret of his youthful flirtations with socialism. Like many neoconservatives, he was a college Trotskyite who lurched radically rightward after World War II. By 1982, he was universally acknowledged as a chief engine of right-wing thought in American politics and one of the minds behind the Reagan Revolution. Which is why it's so curious that, according to FBI documents obtained by Gawker under the Freedom of Information Act, he was the subject of a five-month FBI counterintelligence investigation in 1988.

The FBI heavily redacted the documents—citing national security in many instances—so it's difficult to make out exactly what happened. But it seems fairly clear that, sometime around May of 1988, the FBI's counterintelligence division came to possess a notebook or address book belonging to a suspected Soviet agent. And Irving Kristol's name was in it. That launched a five-month investigation into Kristol's background, including criminal record checks, interviews with "assets" at the school where he taught, and eventually an interview with Kristol himself, conducted under a "pretext" so as to avoid letting him know the true nature of the investigation. This despite the fact that Kristol had already been subjected to an FBI background check in 1972, when he was considered for a job in the Nixon White House, and came up clean.

And since we want to talk about Communists how about Melania's Communist card carrying parents.  Who also are regulars at White House events and often travel with the Donald and Melania.

Speaking of Bolton, has there been any response from our favorite "counter punching" president regarding Bolton slamming his North Korea policy?

No way Trump missed Fox News' screaming headline: "US on high alert for North Korea 'Christmas surprise' as Bolton slams Trump"

Maybe he doesn't want to provoke "Big John" right now?

Understood. It is just I'm guessing (admittedly, quessing) that most Americans believe that if Bolton, Giuliani, Mick, Rick, and the Mikey P's could exonerate Trump, POTUS would have had those boys doing a conga line to testify. Trump's name is worth beaucoup bucks. He is brilliant with branding. It makes zero sense that he would allow himself to go down in history as an impeached president for the sake of preserving executive privilege if he could have presented evidence to prevent such from occurring (and, as a bonus, humiliate the Democrats).

At what point do you think impeachment in search of a crime should end?

Hopefully, not for a while. Need more hilarious riffs from insult comic Shecky Trump.
Need more "pencil neck" Schiff.
Need more "teeth falling" Pelosi.
POTUS has the best words.
