Homelessness crisis: From houseboats to boulders, unconventional methods used to tackle problem in 2019

Outrage. Frustration. Fear. Those are some of the words residents used in 2019 to describe the growing homelessness problem across the United States. There were numerous cases of harassment, rampant drug use and disturbing displays of mental illness that shined a light on the harsh reality that America's once-containable homeless problem had morphed into a modern-day crisis.

In Los Angeles, Heidi Van Tassell said a homeless man pulled her out of her car, dragged her into the middle of the street and dumped a bucket of feces on her head.

In Oakland, the soaring stats are still affecting the way retailers like Mika McCants operate their small businesses. Things soured so much in Seattle that Father Michael Ryan of St. James Cathedral sent a letter to congregants asking that they pray the city and church finds "the balance we need in order to not only be a welcoming place, but a safe place." The letter was in response to a homeless man storming the church and smashing a 200-year-old wood carving of Mary with a large rock. It wasn't an isolated incident and the church now has a uniformed police officer present during all weekend Masses. Sadly, there have been similar complaints popping up across the nation..........

I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Let the insane out of the asylums and turn them loose in the streets. Pay lip service to helping people by giving them clean needles and feeding them and letting them camp in the park/streets/vacant lots. What did these people expect to have happen? Crazy people will act like, well, crazy people. Angry crazy people are even more dangerous. Angry crazy people on drugs are a quantum leap in mayhem.

As usual, the liberal feelgood solutions aren't solutions at all, but only encourage and reward behaviour which is finally reaching the point in places where it is unbearable.

Time for a sea change in how the problem is dealt with.

Thankfully, here, we have Winter, which severely limits the average street crowd. The churches, the Salvation Army, and others can help those who want to get back on their feet, and there are jobs to be had as well.
However, in Leftist/Liberal Amerika, I keep reading how things aren't so good.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Part of the problem is that while there are lot of homeless that need help and don't want to be on the streets, I believe the larger segment is made up of people that want to be there because they don't want to live by societies rules and want to do whatever they want whenever they want to. Then there are the mentally ill that are incapable of taking care of themselves but decades ago the ACLU and liberals worked together to have them released from facilities onto the streets because their rights were being violated. While I agree that many of the facilities were substandard in care and upkeep what we should have done is bring them up to proper standards not eliminate them.

Contrary to what the liberals have created we need to institutionalize those that are mentally incapable caring for themselves, assist those that need a hand up by giving them a temporary home and training so they can get a job and their own home and as for the vermin that are just lazy, drug abusing slugs, a swift kick in the a$$ to either get with the program or get the hell out of dodge.

I am thoroughly disgusted by the liberals in America who have no care or concern for our vets and citizens that are homeless, hungry and need of medical care while at the same time know no limit to their worries for and tax payer money they throw at illegals who invade America.
