Afghan People's Peace Movement marchers 'kidnapped by Taliban'

Twenty-seven members of a peace group have been kidnapped by the Taliban as they travelled in western Afghanistan, local officials and activists say.

The People's Peace Movement (PPM) began its march demanding a ceasefire from Herat province two weeks ago, but disappeared after entering Farah province.

The Taliban have yet to comment.

Kidnapped Afghan Peace Marchers 'Released Without Harm'

Twenty-seven Afghan peace activists who were kidnapped by the Taliban in the country's west have been freed "after being held by the militants for 45 hours," an official has said.

The activists from the People's Peace Movement (PPM) were released "without harm," PPM spokesman Bismillah Watan Dost said on December 26. He didn't provide further details.

There was no immediate comment from the Taliban.

I certainly wonder if this could have been a stunt or staged. No comment from Taliban.

Afghanistan has so many redundant stories, landmines, explosions, attack on checkpoints.
