One of the impeachment experts the Democrats brought in for testimony just wrote that Trump is not actually impeached until the articles are sent over.

“Trump could legitimately say that he wasn’t truly impeached at all."

What a strategy!

That's technically true, but the press will ignore it.  They'll try to make Nancy's stall sound like a reasonable move, too.

I just heard Pam Bondi say this on Hannity...sending the Articles to the Senate completes the process in the House and he is then impeached

Uh, no.  Trump has been impeached, regardless of whether or not Pelosi sent the articles to the Senate.   The House formally voted.  It is a done deal.

Now, the Senate should act.  They should move forward ASAP and call for the House to begin submitting evidence supporting the charges (which they are completely unprepared to do).  The Senate has the power to do this regardless of whether or not Pelosi sends the articles to the Senate.  Put the Dems on the spot.  Tell them to put up or shut up.  Put Ciaramella, Schiff, Clinton, Yovanovitch, etc. on the stand.  Have them tell the nation under oath their involvement with this.

Delayed gratification impeachment is the sweetest and most intense kind of impeachment, although I am anxious to see how the President and GOP Senate completely exonerate President Trump, as he certainly deserves to be after this phony witch-hoax with months of testimony and a 658 pages report of scurrilous lies about our President.  When the GOP pleads the fifth and votes for no debate and no witnesses, it will truly be a climactic ending to President Trump's first impeachent.

Can you try someone just by someone saying 'He is guilty!'?  Don't you need a charge of some sort in order to proceed?

How would a judge in a courtroom proceed if a prosecutor simply said 'He is guilty!' without any charges whatsoever?

In a judiciary procedure, you would be correct.  But there is no judiciary here.  There is no executive either.  There are only two legislative bodies - one representing the people, and one representing the States.  The Constitution is clear - the body representing the States has the authority to try ALL impeachments.  And unlike a judicial procedure, they do not require unanimous vote to convict.  So the only question left is this - has Trump been impeached?  According to the House, the answer to that question is 'yes'.  So McConnell needs to act on that ASAP.  And when the House asks for more time so that they can prepare their case, he can tell them to pound sand.  Case dismissed.

Still seems a charge must be made by someone.  Otherwise, being impeached is meaningless.

It is meaningless.   And that is what McConnell must prove by calling the Dems' bluff and moving forward.

So impeachment means nothing ever?  That seems incorrect.

What you are describing is that the Senate can simply initiate a trial on their own and remove the President.

That is impossible as per the Constitution, as there is no provision within the Constitution to remove unless it is to take up the impeachment of a President by the House.

Sorry, I meant that this impeachment is meaningless.
